Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern era, this issue has sparked the serious debate among the public where some people say History is one the major school subjects.

But critics argue that subjects like Science and technology should hold central position to compete modern society. This essay dicuss both opinion then state my point of view.

On the one hand, learing about History plays a critical role to understand the background of anything. Historical knowledege provides extremely important opportunities to figure out the problems and make us enable overcome any problem. For example, China learnt from their past and after prolonged slavery they removed all the obstacles and now emerging as the global economy. In addition to this, History tell us about the traditions, customs, and cultures of any country and these information give vivid image of lifestyle of local communities.

On the other hand, Science and technoogy are crucial for the development and invention. All the invention of current era, revolving around these subject. People only established their concepts about science and technology and become creative when they used to learn about this fields from the scratch. In Japan, for instance, these two subjects are the part of the kindergarden classes and it is also observed children become more creative and after that they invent different invention such as Robots and bullet trains.

In my opinion, Both History and Science and Technology are extremely important for children. As they learn from the history and modifies the past mistakes to make new inventions which could be beneficial for a country.

Overall, both of the subjects have different importance, as history tells about the cultures, traditions and customs of any nation whereas science and technology shows about the development and progress of the nation. So learning about both subjects are necessary for the development of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the question and give a clear opinion: the two main body paragraphs explain the value of History and of Science and technology, and your conclusion supports teaching both. The examples about China and Japan also make the discussion relevant. However, some points are asserted more than explained. For instance, the claim that China learned from its past and became a global economy needs a clearer link between historical learning and that outcome. The Japan example would be stronger if it explained how early science education leads to creativity, rather than simply stating that children later invent things. Your position is present, but developing these examples and explaining the comparison more fully would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the discussion. The overall progression is clear, but some connections between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “In addition to this” introduces a related point, yet the paragraph moves quickly from problem-solving to cultural knowledge without showing how the ideas connect. The final paragraph also repeats the conclusion that both subjects are important. Use referencing and transitions more precisely, and make each paragraph develop one central line of reasoning before moving to its next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “historical knowledge,” “traditions, customs, and cultures,” “development,” and “invention.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an effort to use a more academic register. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: examples include “learing,” “knowledege,” “technoogy,” “all the invention,” and “hold central position.” Some expressions are also awkward, such as “make us enable overcome any problem” and “shows about the development.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make it less natural. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, especially when discussing education, progress, and innovation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer structures, including “As they learn from the history and modifies the past mistakes to make new inventions,” so there is some variety. However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “This essay dicuss both opinion then state my point of view” has problems with verb forms and sentence construction; “History tell us” has subject–verb disagreement; and “these information give” has a number-agreement error. The sentence beginning “As they learn…” is also incomplete as written. Aim to produce accurate basic sentences first, then build longer sentences with clear subjects and correctly matched verbs. Review articles and singular/plural agreement as well.
