Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for science and technology, especially in “From my perspective” and “In my opinion.” Relevant points include history helping students understand culture and science contributing knowledge about medicine and health. However, the ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The history discussion is particularly brief, while the benefits of science and technology are repeated in the body and conclusion without being developed much further. To strengthen the response, explain how cultural understanding benefits students, and give a concrete example—such as a scientific discovery or a technology used in everyday life—to support your position. This would make the response more fully developed and balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a statement of opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “Firstly,” “In my opinion,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: several short statements repeat similar points, and connections between them are not always explained. For example, the history paragraph moves from cultural knowledge to students’ interests and then to a series of questions without a clear sequence. “Contradicting to the earlier statement” also introduces the second view awkwardly. Group related ideas, use clearer links between cause and result, and avoid repeating the same claim in the conclusion to create a more coherent progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “culture,” “past events,” “medicine and health,” and “job opportunities,” so the main subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “salient role” and “first and foremost.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “rapidly growth of technology,” “developed yourself,” and “provide a first priority.” Spelling errors such as “intersted” and “profond” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations of words and use precise terms rather than repeating “important” and “provide.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences and uses basic linking structures, but sentence patterns are mostly simple, and errors occur frequently across the text. Verb forms and agreement are recurring problems: “School can plays” and “History can plays” should use the base form after “can,” while “history provide” and “School are provide” have incorrect subject–verb forms. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “one of the most vital subject.” Some sentences are difficult to interpret because their grammatical structure is incomplete, particularly “Student are known about our history and what is our culture.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using clauses such as “because” and “which.”
