Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both sides by explaining that history helps students understand earlier people and cultures, while science and technology are useful in modern life. Your own view is suggested in the conclusion, where you say both are important, but it is not stated clearly or consistently in the introduction and body. The discussion remains limited: the history paragraph mainly lists what students learn, and the technology paragraph focuses on computers and AI without explaining why these subjects should be prioritised in school or comparing their educational value. The examples are relevant but general. To strengthen the response, state your position directly and develop each view with a specific reason and a concrete example, then explain how these support your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is often repetitive, and the conclusion repeats points about ancestors, computers and AI rather than drawing the discussion together. Linking phrases such as “one the first hand” and “one the second hand” signal contrast, but they are used mechanically and are not always accurate. Some sentences run together, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Organise each body paragraph around one clear main point, follow it with an explanation and example, and use a wider range of accurate links such as “By contrast” or “For example.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “lifestyle,” “culture,” “technology,” “computer” and “financially stable,” so the reader can generally understand the subject matter. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “important,” “history,” and “in every field of life.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “incestor,” “hostorical,” “significient,” and “highly grow,” which sometimes make the message less clear. Some combinations are unnatural, for example “keep solve their own educational” and “wide use of computer are used.” Build a topic vocabulary set and check spelling and collocations; aim for precise phrases such as “historical evidence” and “digital tools support learning.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and “without,” but control is inconsistent. Many sentences contain errors in agreement, articles, plurals and verb forms, as in “science and technology is,” “computer are widely used,” and “websites is also helpful.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable: the opening runs into the next sentence, and several ideas are joined with full stops or commas inappropriately. These problems sometimes make the reader work to identify the intended meaning. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using one subordinate clause at a time. Check subject–verb agreement, singular and plural nouns, and capital letters and full stops during proofreading.
