Student answer (Band 6.5)
Science and technology is the future and has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. I believe it is necessary to encourage students to gain knowledge of science and technology, however i believ it is equally important to be aware of our history which acts like a backbone.
In today's digital era, Science and technology are the leading sectors which are driving forces for big enterprises to small scale businesses. It is nearly impossible to survive without the knowledge of these subjects. Therefore, i believe it is very important for schools to provide in-depth knowledge to students, from theory through books to practical application in real world. It not only is cost effecient but also time effecient in today's age.
History on the other hand, has equal importance in my opinion, as it provides us knowledge and facts of where we come from. It gives in-depth understanding of human civilisation and how we reached where we are today in science and technology. It acts like a foundation for childrens brain. It also encourages them to be believe they can as well achieve and be successful in life, like other great minds. History is important to learn about the Innovations made by famous individuals and further giving children role models to look upto.
In conclusion, Science and technology is equally important as History because they both go hand in hand and neither of them would make sense without the other. In order for youth to build future they need to learn about our past and roots.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both perspectives and state a consistent position: science and technology are essential, while history is “equally important” and the subjects “go hand in hand.” The discussion is relevant, with reasons about modern employment and technology on one side, and cultural understanding, inspiration, and role models on the other. This meets the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits of science and technology are asserted more than illustrated, and the history paragraph lists several benefits without explaining one in depth. A specific example—such as a historical innovation and its influence on present-day technology—would strengthen the support and make the comparison more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Therefore,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression. The ideas within each paragraph are generally relevant, but some connections are abrupt: the science paragraph moves from business importance to school teaching methods and then efficiency without fully showing how these points relate. In the history paragraph, several benefits are added in sequence rather than developed through a clear chain of explanation. Use more precise referencing and connect each supporting point explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital era,” “practical application,” “human civilisation,” and “role models,” which helps communicate both sides of the discussion. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “acts like a backbone,” though this is not the most natural academic collocation. Some word choices and spelling reduce precision, including “big enterprises,” “cost effecient,” and “look upto.” Repetition of “important” and “in-depth” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make the argument sound more controlled while preserving its clear meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “because they both go hand in hand” and a relative clause in “which are driving forces.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Science and technology is” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “It also encourages them to be believe” contains an unnecessary verb form. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and sentence punctuation, as in “for childrens brain” and the lowercase “i” after full stops. Review agreement with compound subjects, possessive forms, and sentence boundaries. Greater accuracy in these areas would improve control without requiring more complicated structures.
