Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some individuals emphasis the value of history subject in school. While others argue that Science and Technology are the most valuable subjects as compared to history. All subjects have thier own importance and value. In my opnion, Science and Technology hold more importance because of its contribution and advantages to the society.

The primary contribution of Science and technology is advancement. Science and technology has contributed in various ways such as it has made work, research, diagnosis advance. For example, with the assistance of Science and technology, doctora can diagonise illness in much further stage and cure it before it gets out of control. Scientists has made experiments, researchs with the help of Science and Technology. We get to know about about disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, floods warning, global warming before in time and it is only possible with Science and technology. However, misuse of Science has put huge negative impact on the world such as cyber crime, organ trade which leads to humna trafficking.

Furthermore, Science and technology has numerous advantages such as in medical fields, advanced treatments are available, scientista are able to find cure for many diseases. Moreover, technology is major part of today's education. Students are able to excel their knowledge, academics performance with the help of technology. Foe instance, students can receive extra help by using tools such as chat gpt, gemini. Usibg such tools, students can complete their research, solve academic problems, work with any human assistance and much more. However, misuse of technology can have adverse outocmes on students.

Turning the table, History is essential subject for the students. Students come to know about not only about their own country but around the globe. History provides students a lot on information about major topics such as civilization, revolution, geographics changes and what not. On the other hand, students having the information and knowledge about history, will not be able to contribute in country's future as compare to the students who has the knowledge of Sciince and technology.

To conclude, each subjects have its own value. However, Science and technology take the merit. Science and technology can put great positive impacts globally if leanr and use in good manners.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference for Science and Technology, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The examples about medical diagnosis, disaster warnings and students’ use of digital tools are relevant and help explain your position. The account of History, however, is less fully developed: you mention learning about civilizations and revolutions, but do not explain in much detail how this knowledge benefits students or society. Some claims about Science and Technology, such as their contribution to “the society,” are broad and would be more convincing with a specific example or explanation. To strengthen the response, develop the value of History more evenly and make the comparison between the subjects more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs focused mainly on Science and Technology, a paragraph on History, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “To conclude” help signal the direction of the discussion. At times, though, the progression feels mechanical, and the two Science and Technology paragraphs repeat similar points about advantages and misuse. Some connections are also unclear, particularly “Turning the table,” which does not smoothly introduce the contrasting view, and the final comparison between students’ contributions is abrupt. Organise the body around a more balanced comparison, use references that clearly connect each claim to the previous one, and avoid repeating the same point in separate paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “advancement,” “diagnosis,” “civilization,” “revolution,” and “adverse outcomes,” which helps communicate the subject matter. However, the range and control are limited by repeated use of broad words such as “importance,” “value,” and “advantages,” as well as inaccurate word choices and collocations. For example, “excel their knowledge” and “put huge negative impact” are not natural expressions, while “geographics changes” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “diagonise,” “scientista,” and “leanr” also make the writing less polished. Build a more precise set of topic-specific phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully; this will make your ideas easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “such as,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “Science and technology has contributed,” “Scientists has made,” and “each subjects have its own value”; these subjects and verbs do not agree. The sentence beginning “For example, with the assistance…” also contains a faulty construction, and some sentences join several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, then revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected. More accurate control of these patterns would make the argument clearer.
