Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, two topics are subject of considerable debate one is that some people think that history is most important subject to teach in schools while other believe that science and technology is more important then history. This essay will critically examine both perspective and present and present a clear view point . overall, for my perspective it is evident that science and technology is more important then history.
To begin with, their are several compelling reasons supporting science and technology is more important. firstly technology give awareness of modern world and instruments which plays crucial role in students to explore science and technology. This is mainly because when students are familiar with science and technology then they persue their practical career in technical field, science and technology also plays important role for childrens to brings different kinds of innovation for their countries. For instance in china primary class students take participation on several kinds of experiment like in rocket technology and electrical toys manufacturing.
On the other hand, certain expert believe that teaching history to student is more is more important then science. one significant aspects of history is that students understand the life style of their ancesters. further more students learn from past experince of history and take a lesson for their future. For example in museums their are several kind of historical things that are preserve , schools arrange study trips to students and gives information of historicals items and historical personalities. in addition students are also familiar with personalities plays which plays crucial role for their country. for example teach the students how christopher columbs discover USA,
in conclusion, both perspectives have their own merits , the argument in favour of science and technology are more convicing.therefore it can be concluded that in my opinion science and technology is more important then history to taught in schools

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for science and technology in the introduction and conclusion. Relevant reasons include preparing students for technical careers and helping them understand past lifestyles and learn from earlier experiences. However, the two views are not developed equally: the case for science is supported by a brief example about Chinese pupils’ experiments, while the history discussion lists museums and historical figures without fully explaining how these examples demonstrate its importance as a school subject. The reference to Christopher Columbus is also unclear as written. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each subject’s value and use examples that directly support those explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the discussion, and the main position is easy to identify. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences begin with “students” or “for example,” and “further more” and “in addition” introduce points without always showing how they relate. The history paragraph also moves from museums to historical personalities without a clear link. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “technical field,” “innovation,” “past experience,” and “historical personalities,” so the reader can understand the general discussion. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts less clear or natural. Examples include “technology give awareness,” “take participation,” “historicals items,” and “more convincing.” Some words are also repeated frequently, particularly “students,” “important,” and “history.” Build a more precise range of subject-related phrases and check spelling and word forms. For instance, describe technology as developing students’ “scientific understanding,” and say that pupils “participate in experiments” rather than “take participation.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “when students are familiar with science and technology then…” and clauses introduced by “while” and “because.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries can make the reader pause. For example, “science and technology is” needs a plural verb, while “their are” should be “there are”; “technology give” also has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence is a run-on, and the conclusion’s “more important then history to taught” has errors in comparison and verb form. Practise accurate sentence patterns first, then combine ideas using subordinate clauses and careful punctuation.
