Student answer (Band 5.5)
History provides us knowledge about our cultural heritage and how to avoid the mistake of the past while science and technology enable us to drive the economic growth, modern innovation and practical solution of the challenges. Some believe that History is one of the primary subjects in school while other argue that Science and technology are main subjects than History. I truly believe that each subject has his own importance and benefits. This essay will discuss both points of view.
On the one hand, proponent says History is one significant school subjects. To elaborate it, in history we learn about cultural heritage that have shaped or world like event, festivals etc. History provides us information about the past and enable us to learn from the mistake and doing thing in a better way as compared to the past, which sharp our critical thinking. Hence better results come and everyone knew about the past.
On the other hand, opponent think that in modern world subjects like Science and technology are more essential than History. To explain this, these subjects enable us to drive economic development which benefit our country and also us. These subjects also improve our modern innovation which enable us to do practical solution of new things of the modern era which boost our economy and make a country well developed and strong.
In my opinion, I suppose that both of these are essential because History increase our knowledge and able us to learn from mistake that did in past while in the modern technology era education Science and technology are also necessary because these subject enable us to remain in contact with modern world.
In conclusion, every subject is important because each subject has his own benefits. History teaches us about the past whereas the science and technology help us in doing new things which is essential for our present and also future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state a balanced opinion: “both of these are essential.” The response also gives relevant reasons, including learning from past mistakes and the contribution of science and technology to economic development. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example, and some claims remain unclear—for instance, how studying history “sharp[ens] our critical thinking.” The discussion of each view is therefore only partly developed, and your opinion is repeated in the conclusion rather than explored further. To strengthen the response, explain one consequence for each subject and include a concrete example, such as a historical event that informs present decisions or a technology that has improved daily life.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the direction easy to follow. This coherent structure supports the reader, although the linking can feel mechanical because the paragraphs repeatedly begin with formulaic transitions and “To elaborate/To explain.” Some connections within paragraphs are also unclear: the move from learning about heritage to “Hence better results come” does not explain what results are meant. Use fewer stock transitions and connect each reason to its consequence more explicitly. Clearer referencing would also help, especially where “these subjects” could refer to more than one idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “cultural heritage,” “economic development,” “innovation,” and “critical thinking,” showing an attempt to discuss the subject beyond basic terms. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “subjects,” “important,” and “enable,” and several collocations or word choices are inaccurate or awkward. For example, “drive the economic growth” and “do practical solution” do not sound natural, while “modern innovation” is unclear in context. These choices sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check how verbs combine with nouns; for instance, say that technology “supports economic growth” and that science helps “develop practical solutions.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “because,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. Examples include “other argue,” “History increase,” and “these subject enable”; these subjects require matching verb forms and plural agreement. In “learn from the mistake and doing thing,” the forms are not parallel, and “which sharp our critical thinking” also has an incorrect verb form. Some sentences combine several ideas without clear grammatical links. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, articles and plurals, and keep parallel forms consistent. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences will help before adding more complex clauses.
