Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a consistent opinion: both subject areas are important. The two body paragraphs give relevant reasons—History can help students learn from past mistakes and understand cultural traditions, while science and technology can support employment and improve daily life. These points fulfil the task, and the examples about ancestors and health issues add some support. However, several claims remain general or are not fully explained; for instance, the link between studying technology and handling “minor health issues” is unclear. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. To develop the response further, explain each example more precisely and show how the benefits of the two subject areas compare.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated use of “Moreover,” “First,” “Second,” and “As a result,” and the conclusion largely restates the introduction. Some links between ideas could be clearer, particularly the move from technology creating jobs to making life more comfortable. Use a wider range of natural connections and develop the relationship between each reason and its example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “historical events,” “cultural values,” “job opportunities,” and “living standard,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “struggle” and “ancestors.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors limit precision: “prospectus” does not fit the intended meaning, and forms such as “wheras,” “exanple,” “freeedom,” and “opportunites” are misspelled. Some collocations are also unnatural, including “make a connection with culture” and “different fields such as medicine, and engineering.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common academic word partnerships; this will make your vocabulary more flexible and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the introduction and clauses beginning with “because” and “although.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and reduce control. For example, “History is an important subject” needs an article, while “History helps … and make” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “it can also helps,” the modal should be followed by the base verb, and “more easier” uses an incorrect comparative form. There are also problems with plural and possessive forms, as in “various job” and “individual's lives.” Practise checking agreement, articles, verb forms after modals, and comparative structures, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
