Student answer (Band 6.0)
Undeniably, History holds its own utmost value, but with all the technological advancements and developments, many people tend to focus more on areas, like science and technology. Therefore, i totally agree with this point of view that modern courses like molecular biology, artifical intelligence has more potential than the traditional subject like History.
With fast paced and modern lifestyles, peoples interests and capabilites have been shifted from outdated to more up to date data and analysis. Modern subjects hold greater career opportunities along with worldwide recoginition. Technology, in terms of innovation has gone through significant changes over past few years, leading to a diverse range of opportunities, higher pay checks and freedom to choose among various subjects. Unlike traditonal courses, medical and engineering, people can pursue their careers in biotecnology and genetic engineering. A diverse range of subjects and digital inventions fascinate students more.
Undoubtedly, History has been considered one of the main subjects taught in school. Knowledge about past events, the scholars, and war situations has been the significant information that students must learn about. But to some, this seems outdated information with no invention or innovation. Particular interest and understanding is more important for people who wanted to pursue their career in this specifc field.
In conclusion, modern world requires modern technology and to cope up with these trends modern course work is relatively important. It largely depends on personal preferences too but the flexibility, freedom and the career oppotunities provided by the subjects like Science and technology has been unmatched.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both perspectives and state your position clearly: you favour science and technology because of their career prospects and relevance to modern life. The discussion of History also identifies its educational value, including knowledge of past events and wars. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the advantages of modern subjects receive more explanation, while the case for studying History is mostly described rather than supported with a specific reason or example. The claim that History is “outdated information” is also broad and could be qualified—for instance, by explaining how historical knowledge helps people understand current conflicts or social change. Develop each view with a concrete example and make the comparison more balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction presents your view, separate paragraphs discuss modern subjects and History, and a conclusion restates your preference. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical, however, with repeated openings such as “Undeniably” and frequent reliance on “Therefore,” “But,” and “In conclusion.” Some links between ideas are also abrupt: the paragraph moves from career opportunities to digital inventions without fully explaining how one point leads to the next. Use a wider range of linking methods, including clear referencing and cause-and-effect links, and ensure each paragraph develops one central idea in a more connected sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “technological advancements,” “career opportunities,” “genetic engineering,” and “innovation.” These choices help communicate the contrast between traditional and modern subjects, and some less common terms are attempted. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or awkward, as in “holds its own utmost value,” “freedom to choose among various subjects,” and “modern course work.” Spelling errors such as “artifical,” “recoginition,” “traditonal,” and “oppotunities” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural academic phrasing and check spelling carefully; precise expressions will make your argument sound more fluent and convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in “Unlike traditional courses…” and a concluding sentence beginning “It largely depends on personal preferences too.” Most meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “molecular biology, artifical intelligence has” has a plural subject that requires “have,” and “people who wanted to pursue” shifts tense unnecessarily in a general statement. The opening “i” should be capitalised, and the final sentence needs a clearer subject–verb structure: “the flexibility, freedom and career opportunities … has been unmatched” should use “have.” Review agreement, tense consistency, and punctuation while retaining your attempts at longer sentence structures.
