Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely debated whether history is the most important subject in school or other scinece and technology related subjects are most important. Some people believe that history in one of the most important subject, while others believe that science and technology are more important than history. From my perspective, I believe that science and technology related subjects are essential nowadays because it is most demanding field and individuals can find best career opportunities.

On the one hand some people believe that history is the most important subject in school. This is because they may concerns about their country's culture and traditions. They believe that it is essential to teach children about their traditions and history of the country such as how they became an indepentend country. For example, a country may not have been an independant nationin the past, and nowadays children do not know how they became independent. So It is crucial for them to know about their country's history, how people struggled for freedom. Therefore, to teach children about their country's history, values, and traditions, they should study history as a subject.

On the other hand, others believe that scinece and technology are the most important subject than history. This is because they may concerns about their career. Nowadays, subject such as science and technology are most demanding field and they may think about their career opportunities. For instance, if a person has studied history instead of other science related subjects. It may deficult for them to find their dream opportunites in the future. In my opinion, this view is more convincing becasue the future is all about science and technology. Therefore it is essential for children to focus on these areas for bright future.

In conclusion, Although history provides caltural and traditional values, I believe that scinece and technology is the most important sunjects for children becasue it is best for them to find their dream career opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear opinion: science and technology are more important today because they offer strong career prospects. The history paragraph gives a relevant reason—understanding national culture and the struggle for independence—and the career example supports your position. However, the two views are not developed equally: the case for science and technology is mostly framed around employment, while other benefits, such as solving practical problems or improving health, are not explored. The example about a person who studied history is also hypothetical and its outcome is asserted rather than explained. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or a specific example to make the response more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Within paragraphs, ideas generally move from a claim to a reason and then an example. However, the repeated use of “This is because,” “For example,” and “Therefore” makes the linking somewhat mechanical. Some references are also unclear: “they” in the science paragraph could refer to students or to people who hold that view. Use a wider range of linking methods and repeat the relevant noun where needed to make connections more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “culture and traditions,” “independent country,” “career opportunities,” and “demanding field.” However, the range is limited by repeated words and phrases such as “important,” “believe,” and “career opportunities.” Several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “scinece,” “indepentend,” “deficult,” and “caltural”; these can distract the reader. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “dream opportunities” and “the most important subject than history.” Build a more varied set of accurate expressions for discussing education, national identity, and employment, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although history provides…” and conditional structures such as “if a person has studied history…”. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “history in one of the most important subject” needs a correct verb and plural agreement, while “science and technology are the most important subject” has a number mismatch. There are also errors in clause construction, as in “if a person has studied history… It may…” where the conditional relationship is not expressed smoothly. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and how to connect dependent clauses; then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
