Student answer (Band 6.5)

Numerous individuals believe that history is one of the most significant academic subjects of school, while others argue that in this modern era of life science and technology should be more prioritized than history. Although, scientific and technological subjects are important in this fast paced world, however, in my view , we should adopt a balanced approach because history is considered a nation's identity.

Many people think that history is most important academic subject in school. Any nation in the world is considered according to it's history, it educate us how different nations were living in the past also represents the unique identity . Schools should educate the children about historical cultures , important events and what kinds of infrastructure was followed in the past. The young generation might have an awareness of their history and the people who contribute or give sacrifices to for nation. For instance, Pak study is a book that is included in every class of schools academic syllabus , through this book teachers taught students , how their forefathers had got freedom?, which kinds of challenges they have faced during their journey. It encourage the children to do hard work and make contributions for nation. Therefore, history presents the individuality, culture of a nation .

On the other hand, numerous people argue that , we should focus on modern world and live according to it's demands instead of stuck in the past. Now the world is rapidly changing because the emergence of science and technology in every fields of life. We should give importance to modern education that would help to solve problems of the world. For instance, after the emergence of artificial intelligence , every business and companies now just focusing on how to switch their businesses that operated by robots, if we keep teaching the children just history they might be unable to stand them in this world. Therefore, schools should prioritize the scientific and modern education instead of history.

In conclusion, although we should focus on systematic knowledge and practical application that are Crucial in modern era of life. However, i believe that , we should adopt a balanced approach because history represents the nation and how they struggled in the past to reach on this point where they are now, while without modern technological education we might be unable to live in this fast paced world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address both perspectives and maintain a clear position: history preserves national identity, while science and technology prepare students for a changing world, so a balanced curriculum is preferable. The examples about Pakistan Studies and businesses adopting artificial intelligence make the discussion relevant and help explain each view. Your reasoning is extended, particularly when you connect learning about past sacrifices with students’ sense of contribution. To strengthen the response further, develop the comparison more explicitly: explain how schools could balance these subjects or why one should receive a particular share of the curriculum. Some claims, such as history being a nation’s identity, are broad and would benefit from a more precise explanation or supporting detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall progression: the introduction states your position, the two body paragraphs present the opposing views, and the conclusion returns to the balanced approach. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “Therefore” help readers follow the argument. However, some linking is mechanical or redundant. The opening uses both “Although” and “however” for the same contrast, and the conclusion repeats this pattern. Within paragraphs, several ideas are joined in long sequences, so the relationship between them is not always smooth. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make links between claims more precise—for example, show directly how the historical example supports the point about national identity.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “national identity,” “historical cultures,” “infrastructure,” “emergence of artificial intelligence,” and “practical application.” These choices allow you to discuss both education and social change, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, such as “more prioritized,” “stuck in the past,” and “stand them in this world.” Repetition of “important,” “modern,” and “world” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural collocations and choose more precise terms for your ideas. For example, “give sacrifices” could be expressed as “make sacrifices,” while “modern education” could be specified as “science and technology education.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including contrast clauses and conditional forms, as in “if we keep teaching the children just history…” and “although we should focus…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “it educate us” instead of “it educates us,” “which kinds of challenges they have faced” instead of “what challenges they faced,” and “every fields” instead of “every field.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “Although” and “however” are combined incorrectly in the introduction, and the conclusion repeats this construction. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, tense consistency, and punctuation, then edit complex sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete.
