Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern days, the widepread rising of science and technology has sparked debate over the continued relevance of human history. While some argue that History is essential subject in educational institutions, others maintain that Science and technology are more important subjects. Although, the connection that the history carries with our ancestors should be studied, I firmly believe that science and technology are much more important in the contempory society.
On the one hand, studying history assists the yonger generation in finding about the livelihood, culture, and tradition of their ancestors. For example, in secondary level of schooling in Nepal, teachers share knowledge on the bravery of the Gurkhas, who fought and stood against Great Britain and were able to hold borders. These stories, included in the syllabus, were not just only provide feeling of love to own country, but also encourage the youngsters to be barve and resilent. Moreover, whole world stands strong because of the ancestors who were passing knowledge and caring for the younger generations.
On the other hand, science and technology is the most contributing factor for human evolution with enrichment of knowledge, and practical vocational skills. From the very beginning of human civilization, they have been developing their knowledge ranging from starting a fire to exploring universe in space-crafts which is possible by the utilization of science and technology. Furthermore, these subjects give power to the human race to continue on thier survival and extend th race beyond the planet.
In conclusion, although, documenting and studying about the history still remain important curriculum because of passed down knowledge and experience, science and technology are more essential for survivial and evolution of human race.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You discuss both perspectives and state a consistent view: History connects students with their ancestors, while science and technology are more important for contemporary survival and development. The Nepal example about the Gurkhas gives relevant support to the case for History, and the references to fire and space exploration illustrate scientific progress. This meets the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the History paragraph explains cultural and patriotic benefits, whereas the science paragraph makes broad claims about evolution and survival without a specific example of their present-day impact. To strengthen the response further, explain how a concrete scientific development benefits people today and make the comparison between the subjects more explicit. Your position is clear, though its reasoning could be extended further in places.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction presents the debate and your view, two body paragraphs address the opposing positions, and a conclusion restates your preference. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the Gurkha example is placed appropriately within the History paragraph. Some links between ideas are less smooth: “Moreover, whole world stands strong because of the ancestors” is broad and does not clearly build on the preceding example, while the science paragraph moves quickly from early human discoveries to space exploration and survival. Develop these connections with clearer explanation, and use referencing that specifies what “these subjects” refers to. Overall, the organisation is logical, though some transitions feel formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “livelihood,” “bravery,” “vocational skills,” “human civilization,” and “utilization.” These choices show an effort to discuss education, culture, and scientific progress beyond basic terms. However, several spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural combinations reduce precision, such as “widepread,” “contempory,” “barve,” and “survivial,” as well as “finding about the livelihood” and “give power to the human race.” Some expressions are also vague, including “most contributing factor.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and choose precise terms for the benefits you mean. The range is adequate for the topic, but errors in word choice and form are noticeable and sometimes make the intended meaning less immediate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening (“While some argue…”) and a relative clause describing the Gurkhas. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “History is essential subject” needs an article, and “science and technology is” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “These stories … were not just only provide,” the verb form does not fit the sentence; “were not only intended to provide” would be more accurate. The opening “Although, the connection…” also uses punctuation and clause structure incorrectly. Work on articles, agreement, and verb forms, while checking that subordinate clauses are complete. Greater accuracy in these areas would make your varied sentence structures more effective.
