Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, some people believe that history subject is more significant and important in schools, while other argue that science and technology are more important in modern era.Although, both views have their own benefits,i believe that these subjects are equally important for students.
One the one hand, history plays very crucial role in our education, because it tells us about the history and helps students to learn past events and their importance.Through this subject students learn about the sacrifices of their ancestors.By studying historical events, students can gain knowledge about different cultures, traditions, and civilisation that is very important for all students.Because through history we remain connected to our roots. For instance, learning about wars and other sacrifices, helps young people to understand the importance of peace and connection between countries.
On the second hand, science and technology plays a vital role in our life. These subjects help students to gain many practical skills. Moreover, advance technology has strong impact in our daily lifes becuase it becomes essential tool for our all workplaces Like computer, laptops,tv,mobile phones and other gadgets are basic and important products which are used everywhere.
Furthermore, science also contributes in many medical and surgical discovries. Many advanced equipments are introduced by scientists, that is good addition for healthcare departments. For example, ultrasound machines are very productive and beneficial invention, through this machine diagnosis of many diseases become very easy. However, computers and artificial intelligence are used widely in education and business.
In contrast, history, technology and other science subjects all are equally important for students.Because history tells us about the past but ontheother side, technology and sciences helps us in future. Both plays significant role in the development of a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear opinion that the subjects are “equally important.” The history paragraph explains how learning about ancestors, cultures and wars can encourage understanding and peace; the science paragraph gives relevant practical and medical examples, including ultrasound. These points make the response relevant to the question. However, the two views are not developed equally: the benefits of science and technology are listed more than explained, and the final claim that both contribute to national development is not supported with a specific explanation. To strengthen the response, explain how each subject benefits students and society, and connect your examples more directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding position. This gives the reader an overall coherent route through the discussion. You also use linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” to introduce examples and additions. However, some transitions are mechanical or confusing: “On the second hand” is not the appropriate counterpart to “On the one hand,” and “In contrast” does not clearly introduce a conclusion that agrees with both sides. Several ideas are joined with “Because” or run together without clear punctuation. Use more precise transitions and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “ancestors,” “civilisation,” “practical skills,” “medical,” and “artificial intelligence.” This allows you to discuss both historical and modern subjects, and most of your meaning remains clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “history subject,” “strong impact,” and “productive and beneficial invention.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “discovries,” “equipments,” and “lifes,” also reduce precision. Aim to use natural academic collocations and check spelling and countability. For example, describe technology as having a “significant impact,” and refer to “equipment” rather than “equipments.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “although,” and “that,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some sentences are successfully extended to explain a reason or example. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation recur. For instance, “science and technology plays” should use a plural verb, while “history plays very crucial role” needs an article. The opening “Although” clause is punctuated as a separate sentence fragment, and several sentences join clauses with commas where a full stop or conjunction is needed. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and divide long sentences into clearly punctuated units while retaining some complex structures.
