Student answer (Band 5.5)
History plays a vital role in the development and innovation of a country. It reflects the achievements, customs and traditions of a country. In our educational institute, it is properly included as major subject. Some people believe that it is the most crucial school subject, while some individuals argue that in today's rapidly evolving world, subjects like science and technology are more essential than the History. In my opinion, I think it is true that we need to pay more attention to the scientific and technical school subjects.
This essay will briefly discuss both opinions and then I will elaborate my opinion with a relevant example.
On one hand, people argue to teach the pupils History as a compulsory subject. This is because they believe that it is very crucial for the learners to be acknowledged that how our historical heroes made us feel proud, how they sacrificed their lives, how rituals are passed generation by generation and how the things were invented. They think that this will drive students to get motivated and work hard to become successful.
On the other hand, there is a group of individuals who contradicts this statement and argue that in today's innovative world, we need to pay more attention on scientific and technical subjects than History subject. They further say that we cannot compete the world if we do not have scientists and technicians in our country. It is important to build such professionals to protect the state.
In my opinion, I agree with this statement. World is now converting a numerous human tasks into AI. Ai is already taking people's jobs and ruling all over the world. For example, ChatGPT is now used in various fields of professions. Students don't need the instructors anymore because there are bundles of online websites through which students can learn anything.
To conclude, I would say that History should be included as minor subject in the schools, while Science and technology should be considered as major subject in high schools.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a consistent preference for science and technology, so the response is relevant to the task. The historical perspective includes reasons such as learning about past achievements and sacrifices, while the opposing view links technical education to national competitiveness and protection. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a developed example. The claim that AI is “ruling all over the world” and that students “don’t need the instructors anymore” is broad and does not clearly demonstrate why these subjects should take priority. The ChatGPT example is relevant, but its connection to school curricula needs explaining. Develop each side with a specific consequence or example and clarify why History should remain a minor subject.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the discussion. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, particularly with the announced plan, “This essay will briefly discuss both opinions,” which adds little to the argument. Connections within paragraphs also need strengthening: the discussion moves from AI replacing tasks to ChatGPT and then to students not needing instructors without fully explaining the links. Use clearer referencing and develop each paragraph around one main point, showing how its supporting example leads to your conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “achievements,” “traditions,” “compete,” “scientists,” and “technical subjects,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “rapidly evolving world.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, including “contradict this statement,” “pay more attention on,” and “converting a numerous human tasks.” “Ruling all over the world” is also an exaggerated and unclear expression in this context. These choices make parts of the argument less precise, even though the reader can usually infer the intended meaning. Focus on natural academic collocations and accurate word forms, and avoid using dramatic phrasing where a specific description would be clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “while,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence structure, and prepositions recur. For example, “a group of individuals who contradicts” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the most crucial school subject” is followed by the less natural article use in “the History.” In “we need to pay more attention on,” the preposition pattern is incorrect; “how our historical heroes made us feel proud” also sits awkwardly within the indirect-question structure. Some sentences are long and repetitive, especially the list of “how” clauses. Practise accurate clause construction and agreement, and vary sentence patterns while keeping each sentence controlled.
