Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that Histroy is the most important subject, while other believe that in modern world subjects that are most important are science and technology. While both openions have merit, I believe that subjects which include Science and technology are more important to survive in modern world.

It is observe many people think that Histroy subjects are the most important subjects to teach in schools. According to them, History tell us the sacrifices our ancestors made to provide us the life, we are living now. They thought that History connects us to our roots and motivate us to keep doing hard works and struggles that our forefather did. For example, History tell us how our country got independence, how our ancestors fight for the country and what hardship they survive to get independence,Therefore by reading all these scrifices and history it creates a sense of responsibility in us to stand and fight for our country.

In contrast, many people think that to survive in modern world, we should focus on subjects that include technology and science. I also believe that we need to pay more attention toward science and technology subjects. Because nowadays technology is evolving rapidly, research are now ongoing on science and technology. For instance, Artifical Intelligence are now the main focus of entire world, many publications and research are now focusing entirely on AI.

In conclusion, while many people belive that History subjects are most important, while in my opinion Technology and Science subjects are most important as they provide us the knowledge to compete in the race of technology with other world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both perspectives and make your own position clear: you explain that History connects students with their roots and national independence, then argue that science and technology are more important in the modern world. The examples about independence and artificial intelligence are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the History paragraph explains its value in some detail, while the case for science and technology relies mainly on the general claim that technology is evolving and AI is receiving attention. Explain more specifically how these subjects benefit students or society, and develop the AI example. This would make the discussion more balanced and the supporting ideas clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “In contrast” help signal the shift between perspectives, and the reader can follow your main position. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, links between ideas within paragraphs are sometimes mechanical or unclear. For example, “For example” introduces the independence illustration, but the long sentence that follows runs several points together, and “Therefore” is joined directly to the preceding text. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports. The conclusion also repeats the contrast rather than briefly synthesising the reasons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “ancestors,” “independence,” “responsibility,” “research,” and “artificial intelligence,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “most important,” “subjects,” and “technology.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “Histroy,” “openions,” “scrifices,” and “belive,” as well as awkward combinations like “survive in modern world” and “compete in the race of technology.” These sometimes make the expression less clear or natural. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for discussing education and technological change, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in the opening and a reason introduced with “Because.” The main message is generally understandable, but the range is limited and errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “History tell us,” “research are now ongoing,” and “Artificial Intelligence are now the main focus.” The sentence beginning “Because nowadays technology is evolving rapidly” is also a fragment, while the independence example joins several clauses without clear punctuation. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and making each sentence grammatically complete. Breaking long sentences into shorter units will help you control punctuation and express the relationships between ideas more accurately.
