Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is a widely discussed debate around the world that history subject is important for students or subjects like science and tecnology should replace it in curriculum. Both views have their own arguements but in my opinion history should be studied in school because it would help students to learn about their many things like leaders culture heritage etc.
In the era of tecnology, learning science and tecnology is very important and in view of some people subjects like history is not relevent. There is no much things that might help students to learn from history subject that might help students on their professional life while subjects like science and technology might help students to discover or invent new things. For example, Sam altmon , founder of chatGpt learnt science and technology . which lead to so much development in the world. almost every task can be done using AI.iT WAS A REVOLUTION TOWARDS ADVANCEMENT.
On the other hand people argue that it is important to have a history subject in school for student so they learn about history of the world. How leader ruled ,how empire risedand falled , how the power dynamics around the world changed. History also teach students about the tradition and heritage of their country. For example A student in 5th class read how the pakistan got independence , who were the leaders, what circumstances were happend that lead to independce , what role muhhamad ali jinnah had in independece , etc. It helps students to know about the history. That is the main reason why i support this opinion.
Both view has their own merits and demerits science and tecnology are important subjects for students to learn for new inventions and innovations but history as a subject is also very important so students have some knowledge about past events around the world. In my opinion science and tecnology subject should be part of students cource but history should not be replaced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both perspectives and make your own position clear: you recognise the practical value of science and technology, but conclude that History should not be replaced. The examples about AI and Pakistan’s independence are relevant and help illustrate the two sides. However, the science-and-technology argument is developed mainly through the general claim that it supports invention, while the History paragraph gives more specific detail. The claim that History offers little professional benefit is also asserted rather than explained or balanced. To strengthen the response, develop both sides to a similar depth and explain more precisely what students gain from studying each subject.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each viewpoint, and a concluding opinion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In my opinion” help signal shifts in argument, and the conclusion returns to the central question. Some progression is less smooth within paragraphs, however. The science paragraph moves from professional usefulness to an example of ChatGPT and then to a broad statement about AI without clearly connecting each point. The History paragraph’s list of questions also interrupts the explanation. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports; vary linking expressions so the organisation feels less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “power dynamics,” “heritage,” “inventions,” and “innovations,” which helps communicate the subject matter. However, the range and control are limited by repeated wording such as “important,” “students,” and “history,” as well as inaccurate or awkward expressions including “history subject,” “There is no much things,” and “a revolution towards advancement.” Spelling errors such as “tecnology,” “arguements,” and “independence” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe History as a school subject, and explain that science and technology can equip students with practical skills or drive innovation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast between the subjects and a relative clause in “things that might help students.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation recur. Examples include “history also teach students,” “Both view has,” and the fragment “which lead to so much development.” The sentence beginning “There is no much things” also has faulty grammatical construction, while inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation make some passages harder to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete sentence formation, then proofread for sentence boundaries. More reliable control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
