Student answer (Band 6.0)
The educational curriculum includes many subjects, and each has its own importance. Schools have always updated their curricula to reflect recent trends and changes. The history subject has its own importance in the syllabus, while science and technology give insight into recent innovations.
Some people say history is one of the most important school subjects. Others think students should keep up with trends by following science and tech subjects. While both parties are not wrong here, as both subjects have their own importance. History should be taught to students because it can make them aware of every situation their country faced in the past. Besides their own country's political and socio-economic affairs, the subject also provides information about international affairs to students. They will get to know about many things the world has faced in the past in order to get established in any industry. For instance, World war 1 and 2 being the famous historical events that had an impact on international affairs for quite a long time, as people suffered so much to bring the situation back to normal. Students can only learn about it through history subjects.
Besides that, science and technology are the most advanced subjects of the curriculum as they offer a wide range of knowledge in various domains, whether children want to learn about biology, chemistry, or physics, or they want to learn concepts of maths and computer science. These subjects challenge the students and help them improve their IQ. With the development and advancement of new technologies, the world is becoming more digitised. So students should be aware of all these innovations; e.g., AI is the new trend in the market, and every day a new AI update is coming with more tools and functionality.
In my opinion, both subjects have their own importance and should be taught to students. As we see, the world is becoming the future we always dreamed of, and if we leave any of these subjects out of our curricula, our students will suffer brutally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion that History and science/technology should both remain in the curriculum. The discussion of History is supported with the example of the world wars, while the reference to AI illustrates the relevance of modern subjects. This is a relevant response to the task. However, some ideas are more fully explained than others: the claim that science subjects “help them improve their IQ” is asserted rather than explained, and the connection between learning about past events and becoming established in an industry is unclear. Develop these points with more precise reasoning and show more directly why each subject matters to students. The conclusion restates your position but could briefly summarise the distinct value of each view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs discussing History and science/technology, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Besides that” and “In my opinion” to signal shifts between ideas. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or the links between sentences are not fully clear. For example, “They will get to know about many things the world has faced in the past in order to get established in any industry” does not clearly connect historical knowledge with the stated outcome. The opening also repeats the contrast already presented in the introduction. Use more precise referencing and make each sentence build directly on the previous point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including terms such as “political and socio-economic affairs,” “international affairs,” “innovations,” and “digitised.” These choices help you discuss both historical and contemporary subjects. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “functionality” and “curricula.” Some word choices and collocations are less natural or precise, however: “the history subject,” “keep up with trends by following science and tech subjects,” and “the future we always dreamed of” could be expressed more idiomatically. “Improve their IQ” is also an imprecise way to describe educational benefits. Aim for accurate academic collocations and avoid repeating broad terms such as “importance” and “subjects” when a more specific expression is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “because it can make them aware…” and conditional phrasing in “if we leave any of these subjects out…”. Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions are present. For example, “While both parties are not wrong here, as both subjects have their own importance” is a sentence fragment, and “World war 1 and 2 being the famous historical events…” lacks a finite verb. There are also issues with articles and number, as in “the history subject” and “a new AI update is coming with more tools.” Review sentence boundaries and ensure each sentence has a complete main clause. Greater control of these structures would make the argument smoother.
