Student answer (Band 6.0)

Subject selection and their importance in schools syllabus is widely debated all over the world. Some people argue that History should get more importance then other curricullum. Other believe that Science and technology should are more worthy then History in looking at the modern day requirements. I completely agree with the later argument that STEM subjects have more ground in todays modern world.

On the one hand, people who advocate the significance of Historical curricullum argue to show deep connection with culture. History in school can teach youngsters about rich culture of community in the past. These subjects can play a remarkable role in portraying the efforts ancesstors made to build a community. For instance, History subjects will include the stories of brave heroes of nation, any crisis that country might have faced in past and how natives of that time came up with solutions to cope up with those hindrances. History can be source to knowledge about ancient trades and communications. Eventually teaching them how norms and values of their culture came into existance.

On the other hand, Modernization has significantly altered the inclination of subject selection in school curriculla. With the modern day technology it has become inevitable to have significant understanding of advanced world. Science and technology as the main subjects with major focus in schools can initiate to make basis for children. With the passage of time, People understood that avoiding technology is not a way to better and successful life. For Example, If a school do not focus on computer skills then pupills might face issue in later life. As per today, each task involve interaction with computer. STEM subjects also make sutdents smart and prepare them for technical challanges. And these subjects enable children to imagine modern future that is inevitable.

I completely agree that Science and Technology subjects must get significance over other curricullum. It is mainly due to the importance of STEM subjects in development of technical abilities that will help in later life.

In conclusion, Admittedly, History is important to give an idea about culture but it could be done with making it most important then STEM. Science and technology play special role in development of children for modern day.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both perspectives and state a clear preference for science and technology in the introduction and conclusion. The historical case is supported with relevant examples, such as learning about cultural values, past crises and how communities responded. Your argument for STEM also connects school learning with later computer use and technical abilities. However, some points remain broad: for example, “STEM subjects also make students smart” does not explain which skills are developed or how they benefit students. The discussion of History could also acknowledge more directly why understanding past events matters beyond cultural identity. This covers the task well overall, while fuller explanation and more specific support would make the ideas more consistently developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, your opinion, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the contrast, and the main position is easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, some ideas are joined in a list-like way rather than developed through clear links. In the History paragraph, the move from heroes and crises to ancient trade and cultural norms is understandable but abrupt. The final opinion paragraph also repeats the position and reason already given in the introduction without adding much. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and refer back to earlier points more precisely to make progression smoother and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “significance,” “inclination,” “inevitable,” and “technical abilities,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make expressions awkward, such as “get more importance,” “more worthy,” “make basis,” and “imagine modern future.” Several spelling errors—“curricullum,” “ancesstors,” “existance,” and “sutdents”—also reduce accuracy. Some wording is repetitive, particularly repeated references to “subjects” and “modern day.” Aim for more natural academic collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, explain that STEM education develops specific skills rather than saying it makes students “smart.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and complex forms, including a relative clause in “the efforts ancestors made” and conditional structures such as “If a school do not focus on computer skills.” The overall meaning remains clear, but some sentence patterns contain errors. For example, “Other believe that Science and technology should are” has subject–verb and verb-form problems, while “each task involve interaction” has an agreement error. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “History can be source to knowledge,” and punctuation is inconsistent, especially around examples and sentence openings. Practise checking agreement, verb forms, and article use, then proofread punctuation. More accurate control of these structures would strengthen the range you already attempt.
