Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is highly argued that History should be taught with higher importance than some subjects in the school program. On the other hand, in the modern era, some people believe that subjects related to science and technology became more crucial than History. In my view, both subjects are equally important, and it is impossible to compare them directly, as they are accounted for different aspects of the human development.
Nowadays, it is essential to acquire basic science knowledge and learn to utilize technological devices and tools. In the industrialized era, the most companies require employees to be capable of understanding recent technological advancements and use it in their projects or tasks in order to increase their productivity. For instance,in the last few years, software engineers stopped writing codes, instead they began using the artificial intelligence to generate the thousand lines of codes and it was really hard to time for software engineers who hesitated to understand and adjust working with artificial intelligence. Therefore, it can be highly beneficial for children if they get familiarized with technological tools and learn to adapt with them from a young age.
On the other hand, History is a bridge to understanding our identity, additionally differences and similarities of nations around the world and our environment. Even though highly skilled and intellectual people are crucial in the industry and in the academia, we need to concentrate on developing a good person who are emotionally intelligent and understands the difference of personality and culture. For example, most big corporates consists of workers from many different nationalities, therefore one would need to be capable of communicating and cooperating with people who have different accents, opinions, religions and habits.
In conclusion, History and subjects on science and technology have the same importance level as they offer different benefits and skills to the development of children.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear position: History and science/technology are “equally important” because they develop different aspects of children’s abilities. The examples about workplace technology and cooperation among people from different cultures are relevant. However, the two views are not developed equally fully. The science paragraph focuses mainly on employability and adapting to AI, while the History paragraph explains identity and cultural understanding but does not show as directly how studying historical events builds these qualities. The AI example is also difficult to follow, so its support for the argument is less clear. Explain more specifically what students learn from historical study and connect each example explicitly to the subject’s value.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The contrast between the positions is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This organisation is coherent, with a visible progression through the task. Some connections are less smooth within paragraphs, however. The sentence beginning “For instance” contains several ideas about software engineers and AI, making the example hard to track. Also, “History is a bridge to understanding our identity, additionally differences and similarities…” joins ideas awkwardly, and “therefore” is used to connect claims that need clearer explanation. Use shorter sentences for complex examples and make the relationship between each claim and its support explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including terms such as “technological advancements,” “productivity,” “identity,” and “emotionally intelligent.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and attempts at more formal language are evident. Some less common expressions are not used naturally or precisely, though. For example, “It is highly argued” is an awkward way to introduce a debate, “accounted for different aspects” does not express the intended meaning, and “adjust working with artificial intelligence” is unclear. There are also word-form and collocation problems in phrases such as “the academia” and “the thousand lines of codes.” Aim for natural academic collocations and check whether each phrase conveys the exact relationship you intend.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Even though” and “as,” and your overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures are faulty, particularly in longer sentences. In “it was really hard to time for software engineers,” the construction is incomplete, while “a good person who are emotionally intelligent” has a subject–verb agreement error. There are also issues with articles and number, as in “most big corporates consists,” and punctuation is inconsistent, including the missing space after “For instance,”. These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the point. Build accuracy by checking agreement and articles, and divide sentences that contain several linked claims into shorter, complete structures.
