Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some individuals argue whether History is one of the most significant school subjects or Science and Technology are more important in the era of modern advancement than History. This Essay will discuss both perspectives and agree with later statement that Science and Technology are more essential to learn than History because it will help pupils to enhance their research skills as well as to prepare themselves to cope with different modern advancement.

History is a subject which helps students to gain knowledge about ancient times as well as enables them to explore the stories of different antiques that built at the very beginning of the world. From History we can have an idea about previous life also the lifestyle of ancient people but can not know about anything that is innovative. Students must read history just for having knowledge how we are now living in today's world through civilization but it is not as important as Science and Technology.

To cope with fast-paced world, there is no alternative to Science and Technology as this two subjects have a great impact in present's world. Pupils should take both subjects as major becuase they can innovate something nobel through experiment and knowledge they have gained from previously available successful theory done by famous scientist. Technology allows us to have access any information at any time so that we can learn about modern technological avdancement also gain different skills such as coding, simulation etc. Japan is the prime example where the learning environment is mainly focused on scientific research which encourages pupils to try different experiment and do more research with the help of technology.

To conclude, Science and Technology are the primary subject to gain skills in research and innovation rather than history and this essay completely agree with the dominance of both subjects over History.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides and make your position clear: you recognise History’s value in explaining past societies, then argue that Science and Technology are more useful for research and innovation. The examples of coding and Japan’s focus on scientific research are relevant. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for History is brief and largely limited to learning about ancient life, while the benefits of Science and Technology are asserted more than explained. The claim that History cannot teach anything innovative is also too absolute and weakens the reasoning. To develop the response further, explain more fully how historical study benefits students and support your comparisons with specific, clearly explained examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on History, a paragraph supporting Science and Technology, and a conclusion. This makes the main progression easy to follow, and phrases such as “To cope with fast-paced world” signal a shift in focus. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “From History we can have an idea about previous life also the lifestyle…” joins related points without a clear linking structure, and “this essay completely agree” does not clearly refer back to the writer’s position. Use cohesive devices more precisely and make references explicit. Developing each side in a more balanced paragraph would also strengthen the progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “civilization,” “scientific research,” “experiment,” “coding,” and “innovation.” These choices help communicate the subject matter, and some less common expressions show an attempt to be precise. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy: “avdancement,” “becuase,” and “nobel” appear in key parts of the argument. Several collocations are also unnatural, such as “stories of different antiques” and “have access any information.” Repetition of “important,” “subjects,” and “knowledge” limits flexibility. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships so that your vocabulary sounds natural as well as relevant.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a subject which helps students…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “this two subjects have” needs plural agreement, while “Japan is the prime example where” has an unclear grammatical link between the example and the place. The sentence beginning “From History…” also lacks a clear connection between its ideas, and the conclusion’s “this essay completely agree” has a subject–verb agreement error. Practise building accurate complex sentences and checking agreement and articles, while retaining the range of structures you attempt.
