Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals consider histo ry to be a crucial subject in schools education, other belive that subjects like technology and science are more valuabe in the modern age. This eassy will discuss both of these view, but i belive that science and technology are essentail subjects becuase they are beneficial for their future.
On the one hand, history plays an vital role in education because it helps pupils to understand the past event and learnt from mistakes. By studying historical events they understand how ancients socities develop and why certain problems occured. For example, students gain knowledge about the ancient civilization such as summerians, romans, greek and egyptian these are the five thousand year old, so they study about their culture, traditions and how the whole inhabitants vanished. Moreover, learning about past past wars and politicial intsability can help people to undersand the imprtance of peace.
On the other hand, science and technology are particularly importnat is contemporary society becuase they provide practical skills and create better career opportunities. Scientific students help people undertsand the natural world. While technology make communications, education and healthcare more efficient. For instance, doctors use advance medical equipment to detect desease, which can not be seen by eye and provide effective treatments. In addition, students with technology on IT and software may find better employemt becuase major companies are keen to hire individuals with these types of skills.
In conclusion, history help students undersand the past event and learn from them. But i belive that science and technology deserve considerable attention in schools becuase they are advamtageous to pupils and create career opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both sides of the question and state your view clearly: the introduction and conclusion favour science and technology, while the two body paragraphs explain the value of each subject. Relevant support includes learning from past wars and using medical equipment to detect disease. This meets the task well, but the discussion is not equally developed throughout. The history paragraph’s example lists ancient civilisations and says their inhabitants vanished, without explaining the point clearly or connecting it fully to why history matters today. The career-opportunity point is also asserted rather than illustrated in detail. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each example and develop the comparison behind your opinion more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from history’s lessons to the practical benefits of science and technology is easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. Some connections are less smooth, however. The sentence beginning “For example” contains several ideas about ancient civilisations that are crowded together, and “these are the five thousand year old” has an unclear reference. Use full stops or clearer linking clauses to separate the example’s details and show how they support the main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “historical events,” “political instability,” “career opportunities,” and “medical equipment.” These choices allow you to discuss both subjects and their benefits. However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes distract the reader, as in “histo ry,” “valuabe,” “essentail,” and “employemt.” There are also inaccurate word choices and collocations, such as “Scientific students,” “technology on IT and software,” and “the whole inhabitants vanished.” These limit precision even when the general meaning can be inferred. Build accuracy by checking spelling carefully and learning common subject-related phrases, for example “science education,” “IT and software skills,” and “the population disappeared.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “while,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some sentence patterns are effective, such as “doctors use advanced medical equipment … and provide effective treatments.” However, errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms recur: “history plays an vital role,” “history help students,” and “students … understand the past event.” The sentence “While technology make communications…” is also a fragment, and the long ancient-civilisation example lacks clear sentence boundaries. Review subject–verb agreement and article use, and make sure subordinate clauses are attached to complete sentences. More accurate control of these structures would make your argument easier to read.
