Student answer (Band 5.5)

The opinion the History is an important subject in schools is right one because it give us knowledge about our forefathers , how were their lifestyle , how did they spend their time , what were the important customs and cultures of that time . How was the civilization .

Example; history give us the information of countries like Harappa and Mohijodaro that were ruined . It seems so satisfying to see and learn about the fossils of that time . History is not just a subject it reflects the significance and importance of time that has passed . It makes a person become aware of how people spend their life as there were no technology in old time . history is like a diamond shinig somewhere in our books and articles.

But the opinion that Science and Technology are is also right because the countries who have strong grip on modern technology are most developed ones. Those people who think logically and critically with scientific point of view become able to contribute something meaningful to the society . That people become skilled in profession of scientific world . Modern education and scientific research help to make a person strong and a good contributor towards a country contribution.

History is important but it is fact technology and science study has more importance . keeping history in schools as a learning language is good but i think it will be only for enjoyment and for interest but science and technology should be given priority in all aspects because it is of greate importance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and make your preference clear in the conclusion: you consider History valuable, but argue that Science and Technology should receive priority. The examples of Harappa and Mohenjo-daro are relevant to the value of studying the past, and you also connect scientific education with development and contribution to society. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The benefits of History are mostly listed, while the claims about technology and national development are broad and would be stronger with a specific example or explanation of how these subjects help students. Your position also shifts slightly: History is called “the most important” at the start, but Science and Technology are prioritised at the end. State your view consistently and support each side with clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it presents the case for History, moves to Science and Technology, and ends with your opinion. This helps the reader identify the two sides of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven. The opening paragraph strings together several questions about past lifestyles and customs, then moves quickly to an example and a metaphor. The second paragraph also combines several claims without showing clearly how one leads to the next. Linking words such as “But” and “because” are used, but connections between ideas can feel abrupt or repetitive. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, explain it, and then give a relevant example. Clearer paragraph development and more precise referencing would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “civilization,” “customs,” “scientific research,” and “logically and critically,” which helps communicate the subject matter. There are also attempts at expressive language, such as describing History as “a diamond shining somewhere in our books and articles.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, including “strong grip on modern technology,” “learning language,” and “a good contributor towards a country contribution.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “shinig,” “greate,” and “forefathers” also affect accuracy. Aim for more precise, natural academic phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, describe countries as having advanced technological capabilities, and explain that subjects are taught as part of the curriculum.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand your main ideas. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently, including in basic agreement and verb forms. For example, “it give us knowledge” should be “it gives us knowledge,” and “there were no technology” should be “there was no technology.” The opening also contains several question-like clauses that are not formed as complete sentences, such as “how were their lifestyle” and “How was the civilization.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly at sentence beginnings and around the example. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, and use a few controlled complex structures to explain causes and results.
