Student answer (Band 5.0)

History is one of the most important school subject according to some people. On the other hand some people think that in today's world Science and technology are more important than History subjects. According my point of view History is most important subject in school as comoare to Science and technology because if the students don't know about the History then they cannot get exact knowledge of science and techonlogy because science and technology also comes from previous era.

In today's world both the subjects have different importance in schools. History has different importance like how the different culture took place, different civilization changes time to time for example Mughal Empires, Holy Prophet PBUH era in which muslims get to know about the religion. History also tells about middle ages in which people get to know about their norms and religion

On the other hand Science and technology is also important in schools where students get to know about the invention about different things which helps the students to understand the subject. Science tells about the gravity, for example : why apple fell from the tree neuton theory of gravity tells about the science. In today's world students love to make invention throught different technolgy. People are making cars, toys and etc. Through technology students get to know about the AI in which they can get information, knowledge in the subjects. In technology there are also banking sectors information technology, in banking sectors it become easy for online payments transfer of money etc

At the end both History and Science and technology have different knowledge so that both subjects are important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference for History, particularly in the opening and conclusion. The examples—Mughal history and Newton’s explanation of gravity—are relevant, and you explain some practical value of technology through online banking. However, the comparison is not fully developed: the case for History relies mainly on learning about the past, while the benefits of science and technology are listed rather than weighed against that view. The claim that students cannot gain exact scientific knowledge without knowing history also needs explanation or support. To strengthen the response, develop a reasoned argument for each position and clarify why your preferred subject matters more in schools today. The response meets the stated length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, discussion of History, discussion of science and technology, and a concluding sentence. Transitions such as “On the other hand” help signal the shift between views. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several ideas are placed together without showing how they connect—for example, the History paragraph moves from cultures and civilisations to religion and norms. The science paragraph also shifts quickly from gravity to inventions, AI, and banking. Repeated use of “In today’s world” and “students get to know” makes cohesion mechanical. Organise each viewpoint around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it, using clearer links between claims and examples.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “civilization,” “gravity,” “invention,” “technology,” and “online payments,” so the reader can follow the main subject matter. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “important,” “students get to know,” and “different.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “techonlogy,” “throught,” and “make invention,” which reduce precision and sometimes interrupt reading. Aim for more accurate collocations and a wider set of terms for explaining educational value, such as “historical context,” “scientific advances,” or “practical applications.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural word combinations would make your ideas clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional and relative structures, as in “if the students don't know about the History then they cannot get exact knowledge…” and “AI in which they can get information.” These attempts show some variety, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response awkward. Examples include “History is one of the most important school subject,” where subject–number agreement is incorrect, and “According my point of view,” where the preposition pattern is incomplete. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “why apple fell from the tree neuton theory…” Practise accurate sentence patterns and punctuation, then check agreement, articles, and prepositions during revision.
