Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is argued that science and technology are more important subjects for school childern, instead of history. Others say history is the most crucial subject in schools. Although, latter opinion has its own importance and impact on childern life. However, science and technology subjects are necessary, beacuse it influence on a country progress in modern world, leading to development of new machines and contribute to progress of that nation.
First and foremost, history is the subject which has a positive impact on childern life. When childern study about history, its creates a wave of interest in thier mind to know more about history of their country or world. History keeps tradition and culture of a nation alive. For example, In many schools in Pakistan, islamic history is a compulsory subject in all grades. Moreover, history exam is compulsory for university graduates who want to get appoint at Pakistan's most prestigious jobs such as, a parlimentarian or a comissioner.
In contrast, science and technology are emerging fields nowadays. Ai and science are taking over the world. So, these subjects are also crucial for childern to learn about. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and give a clear preference for science and technology, especially in the opening and conclusion. Relevant examples include the role of Islamic history in Pakistani schools and technology learning in China. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the history paragraph focuses on cultural interest and job requirements, while the science paragraph makes broad claims about national progress without explaining how these subjects benefit students or society in detail. The conclusion says both subjects are necessary but does not restate why you consider science and technology more important. To strengthen the response, explain the reasoning behind each example and make your final position consistent and explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “First and foremost” and “In contrast” help signal the change in focus. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking phrases can feel mechanical. The opening uses “Although” and “However” in a way that makes the relationship between the ideas difficult to follow, while the conclusion introduces a balanced position that is not fully reconciled with the preference stated earlier. Some references, such as “these subjects,” could be more precise. Build each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “tradition and culture,” “innovations,” “technical skills,” and “prestigious jobs,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “a wave of interest” and “taking over the world” are imprecise in this context, and “influence on a country progress” is not a natural expression. Spelling errors such as “childern,” “beacuse,” and “stuidents” are also noticeable. Aim for precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully; vary repeated terms such as “subjects” and “history.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “When” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited, and complex constructions are often faulty. For example, “Although, latter opinion has its own importance” is an incomplete or incorrectly joined structure, while “it influence on a country progress” has problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. Other examples include “history exam is compulsory” and “those students whose start learning,” where articles or clause forms are not controlled. Review sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and relative clauses, then proofread each sentence for a complete and grammatically consistent structure.
