Student answer (Band 5.5)

People have different views, about education a large number of people believe that historical subject is most valuable for school learners. Other people believe that at the present technolgy has become more advanced so most important subject is that science and technology rather than history. I completely believe that historical subject is one of the most critical subject for school student because historical subject can help them to learn about the history.

On the one hand, there are several reason why history is important for school students. The main reason is that historical subject may help undergraduate students to develop their knowledge. Moreover, when scholar study on history they may learn valuable leason and it can boost thei knowledge. In fact, when school teenagers focus on ancient people this will be a best way to learning source. For example, learning about major event such as world war or international revolution may support learner to identify current situation or economic growth. As a result, undergraduate students may achieve good knowledge about the past.

On the other hand, there are also strong arguments is that today's world subject is more valuable rather than hstory. This is mainly because nowadays majority of the job companies require skillful worker. Furthermore, science realated subject may help learners to buil up new skills and this skills can easily get job with high salaries in the future. For instance, students who learn practical skill such as computer skill or communication skills can help learner to get new opportunities in the future.

In conclusion, people may have vary in their opinion, however I believe that historical subject may encourage scholar to improve their knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference for History, particularly in the introduction and conclusion. The examples of studying world wars and revolutions are relevant and help explain how historical knowledge might inform understanding of current events. However, the explanation that History helps students “to learn about the history” repeats the topic rather than giving a developed benefit, and the claim about science leading to high-paying jobs is asserted without much explanation. The task asks for both views and your opinion; all are present, but the reasons are unevenly developed and the conclusion mostly restates your position. Explain more specifically how historical study benefits society or decision-making, and acknowledge why scientific and technological skills matter before weighing them against History.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the shift between the two arguments easy to follow, while examples are placed alongside the relevant points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated links such as “Moreover,” “In fact,” and “As a result” connecting ideas that are not always clearly explained. Some references are also unclear: in “this skills can easily get job,” it is difficult to tell exactly what “this” refers to. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph develop one central claim in a clear sequence, and use pronouns only when their reference is unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “historical,” “ancient,” “economic growth,” “practical skill,” and “opportunities,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “subject,” “students,” and “knowledge.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “technolgy,” “leason,” “hstory,” and “skillful worker,” as well as awkward combinations like “learning source” and “get new opportunities.” These inaccuracies sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and collocations; for example, describe History as developing “historical understanding” rather than repeating that it helps students learn history.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “because,” “when,” and “who,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction. For example, “there are several reason” needs plural agreement, while “there are also strong arguments is that” combines incompatible structures. In “this skills can easily get job,” the demonstrative and noun forms do not agree, and the sentence pattern is incomplete. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses. Pay particular attention to subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and articles before countable nouns.
