Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both sides by discussing the value of learning about ancient cultures and the usefulness of science and technology, and you give a personal view in the introduction and conclusion. However, the position is not fully consistent: you say “I partially agree,” then conclude that students should focus mainly on science, without explaining how this qualifies as partial agreement. Several supporting points are difficult to understand or only loosely connected to the question, such as the example about a “Goa art library” and animal body parts. Develop fewer, clearer reasons and explain how each supports the relevant view. A more direct comparison of what history and science each contribute would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help signal these stages. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven, and some links between sentences are unclear. For example, the discussion moves from ancient culture to hunting equipment and then to a museum example without clearly showing how these points connect. “Moreover” is repeated to add ideas, but the relationship between those ideas is not always explained. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then arrange supporting details in a clear sequence and use referencing to show how examples relate to the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “ancient culture,” “vital information,” “innovation,” and “urban area,” and you use some variation rather than relying entirely on basic words. However, the range is limited and many word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts difficult to interpret, such as “lost of vital information,” “different type of organ,” and “modern innovation.” Some expressions appear to be intended as academic language but are not used naturally. Focus on accurate, familiar collocations before trying more elaborate phrasing, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe what history teaches about past societies, and explain specifically how science or technology benefits students or communities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, including clauses introduced by “while,” “owing to,” and “although.” This shows an effort to vary sentence forms. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction can make meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “history give lost of vital information” has problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence formation, while “teacher are not focusing” has an agreement error. Some clauses also lack a clear grammatical connection to the main idea. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check articles, plural forms, and verb agreement.
