Student answer (Band 5.0)
The importance of the history subject at school is a controversial issue today. While some people believe that History subejct is the most crucial. Others argue that science and technology are more important than history, which i agree with.
On one hand, those who support that history is the most significant subject at school argue that
theres no future if there s no history and all of technology doesnt metter if the child does not know much about the history.
On the other hand, there s so many subject like maths, science, technology and languages more crucial for children and young people to learn more than history, because they can not solve thier problems in the future or now with history however they can do it with the information and researchs in maths and sciences in general. In addition, the subject history does't develop children's brain nor thier intillegence, for instance maths develop and teach them how solve problems and they can exercise thier brain with not like history subject it is just a subejct with some information, dates and personnalites than only cultivate children aboit history only.
From my prespective although all benifits that comes with knowledge in history subejct it is still not the most important subject and there is so many subjects with more importance than history, I would definitly not rank it in 10 top important subjects to learn and give priority at schools.
to sum up, I firmly disagree that history is the most crucial subject at school because there s so many subejcts with more importance and significance to the society and children.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a clear overall opinion that science and technology are more important, and you include arguments for both views. The opposing view is represented by the claim that “there’s no future if there’s no history,” while your own case refers to problem-solving through mathematics and science. However, the history argument is not explained or supported, and your reasons for prioritising other subjects are broad; the claim that history does not develop intelligence, for example, needs justification or a relevant example. The conclusion repeats your position but adds little development. As a result, the response addresses the task only partially, with ideas that remain limited and under-developed. Explain the value of studying the past and support both sides with specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two contrasting sections, your opinion, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is weak: the first viewpoint is left as a single, unclear assertion, while the second paragraph combines several claims without showing how they connect. The opinion paragraph and conclusion also repeat the same point. Some linking phrases are used mechanically, and unclear references such as “they can do it” make the relationship between ideas harder to follow. Develop one main point at a time, use clear topic sentences, and connect each reason to an explanation or example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “technology,” “research,” “significant,” and “priority,” and you attempt to express comparisons between school subjects. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled choices make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “metter” for “matter,” “intillegence,” “personnalites,” and “prespective.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “exercise their brain” and “cultivate children about history.” Repetition of “important,” “subject,” and “more crucial” further limits flexibility. Aim to use accurate collocations and vary your wording—for example, describe how mathematics “develops problem-solving skills” and how history “provides insight into past societies.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex structures, including a contrast beginning “While some people believe…” and a concession beginning “although…,” but control is inconsistent. Many sentences contain errors that can make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “there’s so many subject” has an agreement error, and “they can not solve thier problems…with history” has an unclear grammatical relationship between the clauses. The opening also contains a sentence fragment after “the most crucial,” while punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and the run-on structure in the long sentence beginning “In addition.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although,” and “whereas.”
