Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few individuals believe that history is most important subject for pupils while another accept that science and technology are more major topic for modren world.Although History helps students understand the past and learn valuable lessons, I believe that Science and Technology are more important in today’s world because they contribute directly to modern developments and improve our quality of life.
To start with,it is clear that history is more important topic for students it helps to learn past of their nation and state. History gave knowledge about kings and sants who sacrifice their whole life for native people to secure their life.It helps to remember the rituals of all religions it gives us lesson about that things which people should not do in their life for example most of the empires attack on punjab state the they are punished by punjab kings like maha Raja Ranjit Singh or other then all society members think about them before do any illegal activities individuals can take information about historical places from history books for visit there and see precious things related to their culture such as golden throne of Maha Raja Ranjit Singh situated in London museum people found it from history books after read them.
Moving further, science and technology are the major subjects for scholors it help them to invent more and more things which are very useful for their future. Most of the works are do with the help of technology such as in some nations robots make goods it produce lot of things in minimum time with less efforts and expenses, lot of cars and other transport are made with the help of science and technology these subjects are helpful for students in their future because they can make diffrent and unique things with the assists of technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference: “I believe that Science and Technology are more important” because they support development and quality of life. The history paragraph gives relevant points about learning from past events and understanding cultural heritage, while the technology paragraph mentions robots and transport. However, the discussion is uneven and the supporting ideas are often unclear or insufficiently explained. For example, the account of empires attacking Punjab and being punished does not clearly show how studying history teaches a useful lesson. Your own opinion is stated in the introduction but is not reinforced in a concluding paragraph. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation and a specific, well-connected example, then briefly restate your position at the end.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction followed by one paragraph for each viewpoint, with “To start with” and “Moving further” signalling the shift. This helps readers identify the broad organisation. However, progression within the body paragraphs is difficult to follow because several different points are joined into long sequences, particularly the history paragraph, which moves from national history to religious rituals, past invasions, illegal activity and museum objects without clear links. Some connections are also unclear, such as how the example about the Punjab kings supports the preceding claim. Use separate sentences to develop one point at a time, and make references and cause-and-effect links explicit. A concluding paragraph would also give the essay a more complete overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “valuable lessons,” “modern developments,” “historical places,” and “invent,” so the reader can generally understand the intended ideas. There are also attempts to use more specific terms, such as “rituals” and “empires.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “more major topic,” “native people,” “make goods,” and “with the assists of technology.” Spelling errors such as “modren,” “scholors,” and “diffrent” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim to learn topic-related phrases in context and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions would help distinguish historical learning from the practical benefits of scientific innovation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although History helps…” and a reason clause with “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “history is more important topic,” “it helps to learn past,” and “Most of the works are do with the help of technology.” There are problems with articles, verb forms, agreement and sentence boundaries; the long sentence beginning “History gave knowledge…” also runs several ideas together without effective punctuation. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time. Check articles and verb forms when editing each sentence.
