Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some individuals believe that History is one of the major school subjects. However other citizens purcieve that in contemporary era subjects like Science and technology are more imperative than History. From my perspective nowaday's Science and technology subjects are more crucial to learn because without them survival of human beings is impossible.

To begin with, without any doubt history is a major subject. Knowing about the history is essential too. The reason is that, individuals would get to know about their previous precious things and they will get to know more about their cultures, norms, and traditions which extremely contribute them to know about their belongings. For instance, history helps individuals to knowing about their belongings and the past people which highly leads to getting the knowledge regarding the old people. People can learn alot through knowing their personalities.

On the other hand, nowadays Science and technology subjects are more crucial to learn because learning history is good thing but science and technology courses are more important in this modern world. Because of technological subjects, individuals reached at the moon and they are introducing those technologies which are highly contributing for the betterment of socities. For example, air conditions, fridges, and weather these all technolgies get introduced only with the help of science and technological subjects. I believe that teaching Science and technology subject plays a vitol role as compared to teaching the history subjects.

In conclusion, History subjects are imporant too but as compared to science and technology courses, these courses are highly recommended because these subjects are working on the betterment of society and individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state a clear preference for science and technology, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The history paragraph gives relevant reasons—learning about culture, traditions, and the past—while the other side mentions technological progress and practical inventions. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the history examples repeat the point about learning about people, and the examples of air conditioners and fridges are listed without explaining their wider importance. The claim that survival is impossible without these subjects is also too absolute and is not supported. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason more fully and use a specific example to show how studying each subject benefits people or society.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the direction of the discussion easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and ideas within paragraphs do not always progress smoothly. In the history paragraph, several sentences repeat the idea of learning about the past and people; “For instance” then introduces a point very similar to the preceding explanation. The science paragraph also begins a sentence with “Because of technological subjects” and then shifts abruptly to examples. Use clearer links between claims and evidence, and avoid repeating the same point in different wording.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cultures,” “norms,” “traditions,” “technological subjects,” and “betterment of society.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the reader can generally understand your position. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision. For example, “previous precious things” does not clearly express what people learn from history, and “reached at the moon” is not a natural phrase. There are also spelling errors such as “purcieve,” “socities,” “technolgies,” and “vitol.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations of words and check spelling carefully; this will make your argument clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in “History subjects are important too but…” and a reason introduced by “because.” The main message remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms occur throughout. For example, “history helps individuals to knowing” should use a base verb after “to,” while “these all technologies get introduced” has an awkward passive construction and unclear word order. The sentence beginning “Because of technological subjects” is also a fragment when separated from the preceding sentence. Review infinitive and verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries, and practise combining ideas without creating fragments or run-on structures.
