Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued by some individuals that History is one of the crucial school subjects than others. While some believe that, in this modern era subjects like Science and technology are essential to survive in this era and these are most important than other Histroy subjects. I believe that pupils studying in the school should be taught both subjects so that they will be able to learn about histroy and as well as modern demanding subjects like Science and technology.

To begin with, the people who want that their children should taught Science and technological subjects are great minded. Because in this modern era of AI, the pupils should be taught these high demanding subjects. Because the pupils should have some how know about technology. After completing their school, they will enter in to university for high studies. So in university, this prior knowledge about Science and technology will help them alot in their studies. However, this will also land them into their professional jobs. So it is very crucial for pupils to learn and taught basic Science subjects at school. It makes the intial base of the students in science and technology.

On the other hand, some individuals argue that their children should be taught histroy and school and believe that it is most important than other subjects. Because, the histroy tell them about ancient civilization of their ancestors. By knowing the histroy of their ancestors, they would be able to act accordingly in their lives. They will be able to learn the mistakes of their ancestors that they made in the past. So the children will not experience the problems that their ancestors had faced in their lives. History tells all the mistakes that their ancestors have made.

In conclusion, i would say that pupils should be taught both Histroy and Science subjects equally. So that after learning these subjects at school, they will be able to survive in modern society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both perspectives and give a clear overall opinion: schools should teach History and Science equally. The discussion of Science explains its relevance to university study and future employment, while the History paragraph identifies learning from ancestors’ past mistakes as a benefit. These are relevant reasons, but they remain general and are not supported with a specific example, despite the task inviting one. The claim that pupils can “act accordingly” after learning history is also unclear, and the conclusion mainly repeats your position rather than developing it. To strengthen the response, explain how each subject benefits students in a concrete way and include a relevant example, such as a historical event or a scientific skill used in everyday life.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective, and the main ideas are generally easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. Repeated use of “Because” and “So” creates a list-like effect, and the Science paragraph repeats the point that these subjects are important without clearly advancing the explanation. Some references, such as “this” in “this prior knowledge,” could be more precise. Use a wider range of linking methods and make each sentence add a distinct reason, explanation, or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “ancient civilization,” “professional jobs,” and “modern society.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “pupils,” “subjects,” and “important.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including repeated misspellings of “History” and the phrase “great minded,” which does not express the intended idea naturally. Some combinations, such as “high demanding subjects,” are also awkward. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce precision and fluency. Build a bank of accurate subject-related collocations and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and attempts at complex structures often contain errors. For example, “their children should taught” is missing a passive verb form, while “the history tell them” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening sentence, “It is often argued … that History is one of the crucial school subjects than others,” also has a faulty comparison structure. Several sentences begin with “Because” but are left as fragments, and punctuation around these clauses is inconsistent. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate passive constructions, agreement, and comparisons, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
