Student answer (Band 6.0)

People hold constrasting views regarding History subject. Where some argue that History is the most important subject in school, while others believe that subjects related to science and technology are far more important than history. In my view, today's subjects like science and technology are most important than any other subject.

On the one hand, proponents of History subject argue that History is the most important subject should be taught in school. The primary reason for this can be that these people are more obsessed with culture and past of their nation, they want other students to know as well about the History of the country and and their area because this will help them to know about who ruled their nation and what are the key dates. For example, India is a very diverse country with lots of states and areas with their own history and culture and government books like NCERT focus more on these key areas rather then teaching moden technlogy eventhough history of their nation will not gonna gift them success.

On the other hand, there are compelling reasons to support those who believes that science subjects should be priorty for academic growth of students. Chief among these is that today's world is more likely to be modernized and advance, thus students should know more about science and technology because this is waat will take them closer to success. For instance, countries like Japan and China focus more on technology that's why are are developed not developing naton.

In conclusion, while there are valid arguments on both sides. I am inclined to agree with the view that science and technology subjects should be given more priorty, mainly because the world is going in same way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you favour science and technology because they are more relevant to a modern world. The examples of India’s regional histories and the technological development of Japan and China are relevant to the topic. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The History paragraph focuses mainly on people wanting students to know national culture and key dates, without explaining in depth how historical knowledge benefits students or society. The science argument also relies on a broad claim that technology leads to success, and the country comparison needs clearer support. Explain the benefits of each subject more fully and connect each example directly to your reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the reader can identify your position. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, links within paragraphs are sometimes awkward or unclear, particularly the long explanation about History and the sentence about Japan and China. The conclusion repeats your preference but adds little synthesis. Use clearer sentence-to-sentence links, make pronoun references explicit, and organise each body paragraph around a main reason followed by explanation and a directly relevant example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “culture,” “academic growth,” “modernized,” and “technology,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “key dates” and “diverse country.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “History subject,” “obsessed with culture,” and “gift them success” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Errors such as “constrasting,” “priorty,” and “technlogy” are noticeable. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing educational value and social benefits, and check spelling and collocations carefully so your ideas sound precise rather than translated or informal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “while,” and your main ideas can usually be understood. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences. For example, “Where some argue …, while others believe …” is not a complete, well-formed contrast, and “these people … they want” creates an unclear sentence structure. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “those who believes,” “that's why are are developed,” and “will not gonna gift them success.” Articles and sentence punctuation need attention too. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas with accurate subordinate clauses and check subject–verb agreement.
