Student answer (Band 5.0)

Everyones has choice to which they had study the subject. This qustion is very controvertial. Eveyone has right to study whatever he wants. some people study History and some likes other such as Scince and teclonogy.

Some people thinks that History is one of the most important subject which should be studied in high schools or in goverment schools as well, no doubt that History would tell us about our country. The politices of our coumtry or facilities which we had got from our country. For example, the Pakistan which is our be loved country, who made this who had dreaming for our Pakistan. It is due to History which we had studied in our classes.Histroy is one of the most important subject for study of Pakistan and its culture.

However, there are some people whos think that science would be studied in school and colleges and tecnology would aslo studied.Science teachs us different dieases, how to fight with these dieases and the tecnology subject teachs us to introduce different tyoes of subjects, how its work. Science would be very helpful for developing our country as well. Science subjects including Physices,Chemistry and Biology is very essentional subjects. Physices shows that how all things worked and Chemistry tells the different chemicals .

From my point of view, i would say that both subjects like History and Science should studied to our childerens, every book has lot of knowladege which would be very helpfull in our daily life.We should studied as well in house.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a position in the final paragraph: “both subjects like History and Science should” be studied. The examples about Pakistan’s history and the usefulness of science are relevant, so the response is not off-topic. However, the discussion is only partial: the historical example is unclear (“who made this who had dreaming for our Pakistan”), and the science paragraph lists subjects and claims they help development without explaining how. The opening focuses on everyone’s right to choose subjects rather than directly framing the two views, and your own opinion appears only at the end. Develop each view with a clear reason and a specific, explained example, then make your position clear from the introduction onward.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. “However” signals the shift from History to Science, and “From my point of view” introduces your conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and ideas are often placed next to one another without showing their relationship. For example, the Pakistan example is difficult to follow, while the science paragraph moves from diseases to technology and then to subject names. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, and connect each example explicitly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “History,” “culture,” “developing our country,” and the names of science subjects. These choices make the general topic understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors or inaccurate word forms sometimes make the reader work to identify your meaning. Examples include “qustion,” “controvertial,” “teclonogy,” “dieases,” and “know ladege.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “History is one of the most important subject” and “introduce different types of subjects.” Build a more precise set of phrases for explaining the value of each subject, and check spelling and collocations carefully. This will help you express ideas more clearly and avoid relying on repeated general words such as “important” and “helpful.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses beginning with “which” and “how,” and the paragraph structure helps separate the main points. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “Some people thinks” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “both subjects … should studied” is missing a verb form. The opening sentence, “Everyones has choice to which they had study the subject,” is difficult to interpret because several grammatical relationships are unclear. Commas and spaces after full stops are also inconsistent. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses, checking that each sentence has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
