Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response introduces the topic and gives a personal view, noting that history can be difficult for students who lack interest but still has lasting value. It also begins to explain history’s educational role and offers an example involving Islamic history. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the importance of science and technology is only mentioned in the opening; it is not explained or supported. Your own position is also not developed beyond the brief opening statement. The response is substantially below the required length, so there is not enough space to address the task’s parts or develop relevant reasons and examples. Add a full discussion of each viewpoint and explain your opinion with specific support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the issue, and “Firstly” signals the start of a supporting point. The example about Islamic history is connected to the claim that history has an academic role. However, the response ends before a clear overall progression is established: there is no developed discussion of the opposing view, no further supporting paragraph, and no conclusion. The opening’s “on the other hand” does not lead into a balanced contrast, while the long first sentence makes the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each claim to its explanation and example with clear, accurate transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “academic subjects,” “history,” “science and technology,” and “academic institutes,” and “vital role” shows an attempt to express importance more precisely. However, the range is limited in this short response, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “mot important,” “incestors,” and “recogination.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “study about the past incidence” and “his own recogination.” Build a wider set of accurate terms for comparing subjects and explaining their value, such as “scientific innovation,” “historical understanding,” and “preserve cultural heritage.” Check spelling and collocations carefully so that your ideas are easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both a longer contrastive sentence and a relative clause, as in “a subject in which we study about the past incidence,” so there is some effort to vary sentence structure. However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “some people argues” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “history also has his own…” uses an unclear pronoun reference. The opening also joins contrasting clauses without effective punctuation, and the final example lacks clear clause structure. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas using accurate conjunctions and relative clauses. Review agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
