Student answer (Band 4.5)
Some individuals believe that history subjects are most essential and it should be teached in schools. Some people think that history is not significant than Science and technology in current world. As far as concerned with my opinion, Science and technology subjects are more important because it is upcoming future.
To begin with, Science and technology is upcoming future because it is increasing day by day in daily working. This is mainly because Science and technology made the work flow easy and fast such as in the factories, production industries, electronic production. For example, machines working is faster and eccurate than humans. As a result, the factory owners can gain more profit in less time as compare to human by using technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear preference for science and technology, explaining that these fields support future development and make factory work faster. The example about machines and factory profits is relevant to that view. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it does not explain why some people consider history important, and the discussion of science is brief and general. The final paragraph begins, “A further point worth considering is that,” but is unfinished, so there is no developed comparison or conclusion. The response is also substantially below the required minimum length. To improve, explain both viewpoints, support each with a specific example, and finish with a clear conclusion that restates your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening paragraph gives your position, followed by a paragraph about science and technology. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “For example” help signal the relationship between points. However, the ideas do not form a complete progression because the history viewpoint is absent and the final paragraph stops mid-sentence. Connections within the science paragraph are also limited, and the repeated focus on factories does not develop into a broader discussion. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the history argument, the science-and-technology argument, and your opinion. Then connect them with clear transitions and ensure each paragraph develops one main idea before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “factories,” “production industries,” “machines,” and “technology,” which makes the general subject understandable. There are also attempts to express cause and result through phrases such as “This is mainly because” and “As a result.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “history subjects,” “upcoming future,” and “machines working” do not sound natural in this context. The spelling “eccurate” also reduces precision. Build a wider set of terms for both sides of the debate, such as historical understanding, scientific innovation, and technological advances, and check that words combine naturally in phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and examples, including “This is mainly because…” and “For example… As a result…”. The main ideas can generally be followed, but control is uneven. For instance, “it should be teached” has an incorrect passive verb form, while “Science and technology is” shows a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening sentence also shifts from plural “subjects” to singular “it,” making the reference unclear. Some sentence patterns are incomplete, especially the final fragment, “A further point worth considering is that.” Practise accurate agreement, pronoun reference, and verb forms, and proofread to ensure every sentence has a complete structure.
