Student answer (Band 5.0)

A number of individuals say that History is one of the most important school subjects. On the other hand people think that in this modern era Science and technology are more important than History. Firstly i will discuss the both view and then i will share my opinion.

On one hand, History defines the ancient terms which is also needs to continue from year to year. Due to History contain the actual incident of a particular time and thats why this is too much important to spread the history to the modern era specially to the younger generation. For example in 1971 the liberation war was happened and it get victory also the country born from that named Bangladesh. It has a significant impact for the country. If this history cannot presented to the younger generation then anyone cannot understand the importance of this country.

On the other hand, Science and technology creates a vulnerable impact in generation. Nowadays everyone wants to be a part of advanced technology. Each and everywhere the science and technology create its own place and thats the reason people cannot think a single day without this. As a result everyone relays on it.

Comparison between History and science and technology is almost same except some points. But from my perspective Science and technology will slightly move forward than the History. Science and technology has more potential school subject rather than History. The main advantages of Science and technology is this the subject which is skillfull and students gain skill by learing this. By using science and technology we can save the history and spread among all the generation. Science and technology can create history nevertheless the history cannot.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and give a clear preference for science and technology, so the main parts of the task are present. The Bangladesh liberation-war example is relevant and helps explain why history matters for national identity. However, the arguments are only partly developed: the case for science and technology relies mainly on its widespread use and the claim that it builds skills, without a specific example or explanation of which skills matter. The comparison that the subjects are “almost same” is also not clarified, and the final claim that technology can create history while history cannot is asserted rather than supported. Develop each view with a reason and a concrete example, then explain your preference more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding paragraph with your opinion. Signposts such as “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the broad contrast. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several links are mechanical or imprecise. For example, “As a result everyone relays on it” does not clearly connect the preceding point about technology’s presence to a developed consequence. The final paragraph moves from comparison to skills and then to preserving history without showing how these points fit together. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each reason to its example and conclusion; make references such as “this” and “it” explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “liberation war,” “younger generation,” “advanced technology,” and “significant impact,” which makes the subject matter clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate enough to make ideas less precise. “History defines the ancient terms” does not express the intended idea clearly, while “creates a vulnerable impact” and “skillfull” are unsuitable or incorrectly formed. Repetition of “Science and technology” and “History” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate academic collocations and vary references where possible, for example by using “historical study” or “scientific and technological subjects.” Check spelling and word forms, and choose vocabulary that states your meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If this history cannot presented to the younger generation then anyone cannot understand…”. However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, or sentence construction, and these sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “History…which is also needs,” “the liberation war was happened,” and “Science and technology has more potential.” The opening also has a run-on structure, and capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and use a reliable range of clauses only when you can control them. For instance, revise the conditional as “If this history is not presented to younger generations, they may not understand…”
