Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an on going debate regarding school subjects. A group of individuals believe that history is most important school subject. However, others argue that science and technology are more important compared to history. Therefore, ahead of my opinion, both the views will be discussed further.
Examining the former opinion, the primary argument the supporters would put forward is that building a connection of students with history is important. If students have a solid learning about history they can learn from well-known personalities of history. However, history explains about the place, time and persons. There are many historical places all over the world. For example, badshahi masque in lahore, it is very ancient and famous building of lahore . It is an interesting place to visit. History teaches students where we from, how was our roots.
On the contrary, those in the favor of latter opinion have their on arguments.to begin with they claim that science and technology is in trend. However, it is the need of the hour. Science is the reason we can research deeply about universe. For example, Neil Armstrong went on moon due to science and technology. Furthermore, science and technology makes lives easier. It simplifies the everyday work. For instance, modern tools can do hours of work in minutes such as, washing machines, dish washers and vacuum cleaner, they all are example of science and modern technology. So learning about science can make students creative and technical.
To concluded, there are convincing arguments for both. In my opinion schools should focus on both subjects equally. In these days science and technology becoming popular but history has its own place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear opinion that schools should focus on History and Science and technology equally. Relevant examples, including the Badshahi Mosque and Neil Armstrong’s moon landing, help illustrate the two positions. However, the ideas are not developed evenly or fully: the History paragraph lists what the subject covers, but does not explain in detail how learning about the past benefits students today. Similarly, the claim that science makes students “creative and technical” would be stronger with a clearer explanation or example. Your conclusion restates your view, but the reasons supporting equal emphasis remain brief. Develop each main point through a clear explanation of its importance, rather than relying mainly on examples or general claims.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the contrary” help distinguish the opposing position. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Therefore, ahead of my opinion” does not clearly introduce the essay’s plan or position, while repeated “For example” and “Furthermore” links can make the progression feel formulaic. Within the History paragraph, the move from learning from historical figures to famous places is abrupt, and “However” does not express a clear contrast in that context. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, then connect explanations and examples more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “historical places,” “research,” “universe,” and “modern tools.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to use more formal language, such as “the need of the hour.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “solid learning about history,” “history explains about,” and “science and technology is in trend.” There are also spelling and form errors, such as “masque” and “dish washers,” which reduce precision. Aim for natural academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the benefits of each subject rather than repeating broad terms such as “important” and “science.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional phrasing in “If students have a solid learning about history…” and a relative clause in “modern tools can do hours of work in minutes.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation recur. For example, “science and technology makes lives easier” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “history is most important school subject” needs articles. The opening phrase “the primary argument the supporters would put forward” is structurally incomplete, while “To concluded” uses an incorrect verb form. Review sentence boundaries and agreement, and practise building accurate complex sentences before adding more ambitious structures.
