Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is commonly believed by many individuals that history is most important school subject, while others argue that there are more important subjects, such as science and technology at present world.

On the one hand, history is most important subject, it is one of the great idea to attach people with their culture. In this digital world, children are always interested in watching movies, playing games and do their personal work. They do not take interest to gain knowledge about their culture. So, if they take history subject in their school thay can learn how there elder generation survive and what was going in in the world.

On the other hand, some people believe that science and technology are more important than history because in this world, there are more need of doctors and skilled people. In the past, people are not well-educated related to health so they have to suffered from significant problems, however there was not proper solutions for their problems. So, it is important for children to take science subject so that people can take proper treatment of their problems. Moreover, there are also need for skilled people because in this digital world, most jobs are depend on computers and many digitals. It is important to take technology subject.

In conclusion, I partially agree with this statement because history is also as important as science and technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both viewpoints and give a personal position, so the response is relevant to the task. The history paragraph links the subject with cultural knowledge, while the science and technology paragraph mentions healthcare and employment. However, these points are brief and general: the explanation of how history teaches about earlier generations is unclear, and the examples about health and jobs are not developed with a specific illustration. Your conclusion says you “partially agree,” but does not explain the balance behind that view. The response is 222 words, 28 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop each argument with a clear example and explain your opinion more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help the reader follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, the progression is sometimes less clear. For example, the history paragraph moves from children’s digital activities to cultural learning without fully explaining the connection, and the science paragraph shifts from healthcare to employment quite abruptly. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “So” and “Moreover.” Use clearer cause-and-effect links and develop one point before moving to the next; this would make the argument flow more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “culture,” “health,” “skilled people,” and “technology.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “significant problems” and “proper treatment.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. For instance, “attach people with their culture” and “there are more need of doctors” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “thay” and “digitals” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing education, cultural understanding, healthcare, and employment, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. The opening sentence is missing an article in “history is most important school subject,” while “history is most important subject, it is…” joins two independent clauses incorrectly. Verb forms and agreement are also problematic in “people are not well-educated,” “they have to suffered,” and “most jobs are depend.” Practise accurate article use, past-tense forms, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries. Shorter, correctly controlled sentences would help you express the ideas more clearly before adding more complex structures.
