Student answer (Band 6.0)

some individuals think that history is one of the key subject, but some people believe that in knowadays subject like science and technology are more valuable then history, although both subjects have their own benefit, i believe thata students should both, as they help them develop different type of knowledge and skill.

on the one hand, history plays an vital role in helping students understand the past, by learning about the historical events like wars , great leaders, student understand who societies has developed over the time, historical stories will help students what is the value of good decisions, students can make a difference who was the past and what is it, student can understand what is peace. for example studying the two world wars help student understand about cooperation, peace etc.

On the other hand, science and technology are becoming increasingly important because they have a direct impact on our daily lives. Scientific knowledge helps people understand the natural world, while technological skills are necessary for many modern careers. For instance, doctors use advanced medical equipment to diagnose diseases, and businesses use computers and artificial intelligence to improve their productivity. Furthermore, students with knowledge of science and technology may have better employment opportunities in the future. For these reasons, many people believe that these subjects deserve greater attention in schools.

In my opinion, science and technology should receive significant attention because they prepare students for future careers and help solve modern problems. However, history should not be neglected, as it develops critical thinking and helps students understand their cultural and social background. Schools should maintain a balance between these subjects rather than focusing entirely on one area.

In conclusion, history helps students learn from the past, whereas science and technology prepare them for the future. I believe that both are essential for providing students with a well-rounded education.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear opinion: science and technology deserve significant attention, but history should remain part of a balanced education. The examples about medical equipment, business technology and the world wars help make the arguments relevant. However, the history paragraph is less fully developed than the science-and-technology paragraph. For example, the claims that historical stories teach the value of good decisions and help students understand peace are not clearly explained or supported. To strengthen the response, develop these points with a specific example and explain how it demonstrates the benefit of studying history. Your conclusion appropriately restates the central comparison and position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the later paragraphs connect ideas logically. This shows effective organisation, though some cohesion is less controlled in the history paragraph: several ideas are joined in a long sequence, making their relationships difficult to follow. The opening sentence also contains several points linked mainly by commas. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise links between claims and examples. This would make the organisation feel more consistently smooth rather than occasionally mechanical or unclear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “historical events,” “natural world,” “advanced medical equipment,” “artificial intelligence,” and “employment opportunities.” These choices communicate the main ideas and show some range beyond basic terms. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, particularly in the opening (“knowadays,” “then,” “thata”) and in phrases such as “make a difference who was the past.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “one of the key subject” and “different type of knowledge and skill.” Aim to check spelling and use natural collocations, especially when expressing abstract ideas. More precise wording would help your relevant vocabulary sound controlled and make the history argument easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “although both subjects have their own benefit” and the clauses beginning “because” and “while.” The later paragraphs are generally easier to follow, and several sentences communicate their meaning clearly. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation remain. For example, the opening is a run-on sentence, “history is one of the key subject” has a number-agreement error, and “student understand who societies has developed” contains problems with subject–verb agreement and clause structure. Use full stops to separate complete ideas, and check singular/plural agreement and article use. This will improve accuracy while allowing you to retain your attempts at complex sentences.
