Student answer (Band 6.0)

History is basically looking back into people and events thaf happened years behind. History in more ways that one is the foundation on the current state each country is living in. History as a subject in school is very important than science and technology because we learn of how our ancestors easily lived and survived without the complications of science. Those lessons and methods could be easier and cheaper than the new ways science adopts. For example, for years and years children. would be born and not receive vaccines and still survived, if we could learn just how the ancestors lived their lives before, we could in a way avoid costs and other things that come along with creating of multiple of vaccines for children. And in a way, history helps us make less mistakes by learning what the people in the past did.

However, as much as history is important, science and technology is more important as a subject. As people say, 'the future is science' Science has brought on more tools and methods that otherwise were problems from the past, and other things people didn't normally think would be needed. The large amount of people currently living on earth means that more diseases that were otherwise not diagnosed in the past, the coming in of science led to creations that easily detects dangerous diseases and works for the cure. Most of which in the past didn't have medicine for them and people would just be left to die.

Science is also important because it makes lives easy. Things that took a lot of time and energy in the past are now very easily done. For example, to travel from one part of the world to another took days and may have led people into dangerous paths, with science people are able to travel hundreds of kilometers in mere hours.

In conclusion, history is important as it offers lessons that the new generations could learn from. Teaching children in school, history could lead to more people thinking logically about things that have been going on since hundreds of years ago. But science is very important for the future. Science makes everything easier. As much as it takes a lot of time ans complications to develop, the results are always for the benefit of the users.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and give a clear overall preference for science, especially in the conclusion: “science is very important for the future.” The examples about disease detection and faster travel are relevant and help explain its practical value. However, the history argument is less convincing and developed: the claim that studying ancestors’ lives could reduce the need for vaccines is not clearly supported and risks confusing historical learning with modern medical decisions. Some points, such as history helping people avoid past mistakes, are mentioned but not illustrated. To strengthen the response, explain each side with a more precise reason and a relevant example, then make your comparison and opinion explicit throughout rather than relying mainly on the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an opening discussion of history, a contrasting section on science and technology, and a conclusion. “However” signals the shift effectively, while “For example” introduces supporting details. This coherent structure makes the main line of argument easy to follow. To move further, make links between individual claims more precise and avoid abrupt or loosely connected sentences. For instance, the sentence beginning “The large amount of people currently living on earth” moves quickly from population to disease without clearly explaining the connection. The conclusion also repeats that science makes life easier rather than synthesising the two views. Use clearer referencing and transitions to show how each example supports the point before it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “ancestors,” “vaccines,” “dangerous diseases,” and “diagnosed.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “the foundation” and “the future is science.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “important,” “things,” and “easy,” and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, including “looking back into people,” “years behind,” and “the coming in of science.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Build a wider set of natural collocations for discussing education, historical evidence, and technological progress, and check word forms and spelling, such as “thaf” and “ans,” before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, including conditional phrasing in “if we could learn just how the ancestors lived” and a contrast introduced by “as much as.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors occur across sentence construction, agreement, and punctuation. For example, “History … is very important than science” lacks the correct comparative form, and “children would be born and not receive vaccines and still survived” shifts verb forms within the sentence. The sentence beginning “The large amount of people” is also grammatically incomplete in its development. Review comparative structures, consistent verb forms, and sentence boundaries; then proofread for punctuation, including the stray full stop after “children.”
