Student answer (Band 5.5)

According few people that the history is the vital school lesson while on the the other hand, people contemplate that the Science and Technology are more critical than the history.

This eassay will explore both views that will be elucidated in the forth coming paragraphs.

To commence with, that the some people give imortance to history as schools subject. This is a good idea because history plays a fundamental role for any nation building. By analyzing the history the youngs will become femilar with past and can take part in their country development because of having influence from their history. For example, Japan has made an excellent development learning from their previous erra. They have history subject in their schools that makes the youngs patriot. Additionaly, by having knowledge of past the nations can easily point out their flaws and successes that their ancestors made and can do more better for their future.

On the other hand, people also think that the Science and Technology are more important as compred to history. It is an amazing idea, because now days we are living in the modern world and definately there should be more knowledge about Science and Technology that can be fulfilled from the schools as important subjects. For example, China is currently leading the because of Science and Technology as they have numerous scientific subjects in their schools. Additionally, they are not just providing scienticfic subjects but doing it in practical way and that why they are living the future world.

In my opinion, having Science and Technology as school subjects would be a great idea because in scientific world there severe need of Science and Technology rather than history.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and state your preference for Science and Technology, so the response addresses the main parts of the prompt. The history paragraph gives relevant reasons, including learning from past successes and mistakes, and the Japan example attempts to illustrate this. However, the position is only briefly explained, and several claims are asserted rather than supported: for instance, the link between studying history and making young people “patriot” is not clarified. The Science and Technology argument is also general, and the China example does not explain specifically how school subjects have led to the country’s progress. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a more precise example, and make your own reasoning more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “To commence with” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the shift between perspectives, and the ideas within each body paragraph generally relate to its main point. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the linking can feel formulaic, with “Additionally” repeated, and some connections between claims are not fully clear—for example, the move from China’s school subjects to “living the future world.” Use a wider range of natural links and make the relationship between each example and its supporting claim explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “nation building,” “fundamental role,” “scientific subjects,” and “practical way,” which helps communicate the two sides of the discussion. There is also an attempt to vary wording rather than relying entirely on basic terms. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “imortance,” “femilar,” “compred,” and “made an excellent development.” Some expressions, including “living the future world,” are difficult to interpret naturally. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common academic collocations, then choose precise wording to express cause and effect rather than using broad claims.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “that,” and the reader can usually identify your main meaning. However, the range is limited, and complex constructions are often faulty. For example, “According few people that…” lacks a correct sentence structure, while “This essay will explore both views that will be elucidated…” creates an awkward and unclear clause. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “the Science and Technology are” and “the youngs will become.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check articles and agreement.
