Student answer (Band 5.5)
School subjects is one of the important essential of knowledge. While there are arguments whether history is more knowledgeable as a subjet or science and technology, i strongly more in favor of science and technology. This essay, will discuss both view and my opinion in this statement.
First of all, there is a reason for history subjects become public issue and compared to science and technology. Because, from history books there are pictures and story focusing on where our ancestors come from. Furthermore, in history books they include information why human now still have the same characteristics and behavior as their ancestors. For example, the reason why some adults now have a slightly sharper teeth and pale skin because the way they are living and the location before. Inuits people have these uniqueness because they are living in highter temperature which is known from the history why they have the same characters as their ancestors.
On the other hand, the approach from science and technology are not the same. They are base on facts and experiment. It can gain our body information and blood types accurately. For example, autism childs and the differences of man and women body. From here, we can know why autism kids act the way they are, there do not have a normal amount of cromosom which is lower than most people. Woman can gibe bort to a child while man can not be able to do that because woman have ovaries while men don't. This information is gained by science and technology. This is why this subjects is the most important.
In conclusion, they are obviosly undeniable resources of history subjects. I still firmly believe that science and technology subjects is the most important. It can answers our question accurately with fact. Moving forward, this subjects will be the one that people will always use and look for.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for science and technology in the introduction and conclusion. The science paragraph gives relevant examples, such as using scientific methods to learn about the body, while the history paragraph attempts to explain how the past can illuminate human origins and behaviour. However, the ideas are often unclear or insufficiently supported: the claims about Inuit physical traits and autism are difficult to follow and are not convincingly connected to the subjects’ importance. The discussion also gives much more explanation to examples than to the broader reasons each subject matters. To strengthen the response, explain each view with a clear central reason, then use accurate, directly relevant examples to support it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “First of all,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For instance, the history paragraph moves from ancestors to teeth, skin, and Inuit living conditions without clearly showing how these points support the value of studying history. References such as “This information” and “this subjects” are also not always clear. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the preference rather than drawing the discussion together. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim and connect each example explicitly to it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “ancestors,” “characteristics,” “facts,” “experiment,” and “accurately.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “more knowledgeable as a subjet,” “public issue,” and “obviosly undeniable resources.” Spelling errors, including “highter,” “cromosom,” and “obviosly,” are noticeable and reduce precision. Some expressions are repeated, particularly “science and technology” and “important,” while “information” is used broadly. Aim to learn topic-specific phrases and check spelling and word forms. More precise wording would help you explain the value of each subject without relying on vague or unnatural expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrastive opening with “While” and examples introduced by “Because.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors can make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “School subjects is,” “This essay, will discuss,” and “there do not have a normal amount,” which show problems with agreement, sentence construction, and verb forms. There are also recurring issues with articles, plurals, and punctuation, as in “this subjects” and the comma after “Because.” Some sentences run together or lack a clear grammatical connection between ideas. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for agreement and punctuation.
