Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear opinion in the conclusion: both subjects are important for preparing students for life. The History paragraph explains its value through knowledge of ancestry and learning from earlier generations, while the science paragraph connects technology with efficiency and national protection. These are relevant reasons, but some are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that History “guides a man his pathway” is unclear, and the point about technology in wars could be linked more directly to what students gain from studying science at school. Develop each main idea with a specific explanation or example, and make your own position clearer before the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. The progression from History to science and technology is easy to follow, and phrases such as “Therefore” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some stronger control through paragraphing. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or unclear: “Although” and “But” are used together in the opening, and the reference in “it guides a man his pathway” is difficult to follow. Some sentences also move quickly between related points without explaining the connection. Use linking expressions more selectively and ensure pronouns clearly refer to the intended subject.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “limitless possibilities,” “technological advancements,” “forefathers,” and “developments.” These choices help you discuss both education and society, and the meaning is generally understandable. You also attempt less common expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “mandatory subject,” “hold our hand,” and “holding our pioneers altogether.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “mandatary,” also reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations rather than more elaborate wording: for instance, say that technology “supports progress” and that History “connects us with our past.” More precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concessive opening and sentences with subordinate clauses. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “it is the one of the most mandatory subject,” where the article and singular/plural form do not agree, and “it guides a man his pathway,” which is missing a grammatical link such as “along.” There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary problems, as in “Although ,History … .But the science…,” and inconsistent capitalisation of “History” and “But.” Review articles, agreement, and clause punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and natural structure.
