Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is a ongoing debate on selection of subjects which is selected in school curiculum for studies. On one side, some people argue that Histroy should be compulsary for the school subject and it plays an crucial role to awareness about the culture where they live, while others believe that Science and Technology are very important than history. I will discuss both point of views and share my personal opinion on it.

To start with the first argument that History is very important subject in school where student learn about the historical events and places about their nature, culture and historical conflicts. Histroy is increadible becuase it is unforgetable and encourage the younger generation to maintain the same perpectives about their cultures. For example, all the religions are pursuing the same abilities, learned by their holy books and which helps them to motivate on the right path and encourage them.

On the other hand, most of the people are saying that world is growing too fast in Science and Technology, these subjects are crucial to gain the knowledge and helps them in their desire field. Most of the people are continue their field journey in Medical and IT sector, helping them to increadible resources and opportunites for their future. From my perspective, I would like to say that all the subject sohuld be mandatory in school to aware students about all things and choose thier interesting field. History is beneficial for providing information about their land, historical events.

In conclusion, All subject should be mandatory for the school curriculum because it develope the way for the pupils to choose their interesting field. History, Science and Technology all are important in school rather than influence Science and Technology over History. I believe that all kind of subjects should be involve in school to check the ability of student and focus on them with that subject.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a personal position: you explain that History can teach students about culture and past events, while Science and Technology can support careers in medicine and IT. Your conclusion also states that all subjects should be included. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The example about religions and holy books does not clearly show how studying History benefits students, and the points about career opportunities remain general. Your position also shifts slightly: you argue that all subjects should be mandatory, but do not explain how this answers the comparison between History and modern subjects. Develop each view with a specific, relevant example and make your judgement about their relative importance clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some links feel mechanical. For example, the History paragraph moves from historical events to religions and holy books without explaining the connection. The final paragraph repeats the idea that all subjects should be mandatory rather than drawing together the reasons already discussed. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and ensure that pronouns such as “them” and “their” have unmistakable references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “historical events,” “culture,” “curriculum,” and “mandatory,” so the reader can identify the subject of the essay. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “Histroy,” “increadible,” “perpectives,” and “opportunites.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “maintain the same perspectives about their cultures” and “continue their field journey” do not express your intended ideas precisely. Repeated use of “important,” “subjects,” and “people” further limits variety. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling, word forms, and collocations so your ideas are expressed more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “because,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “There is a ongoing debate on selection of subjects which is selected” has problems with articles, agreement, and clause construction. In “these subjects are crucial to gain the knowledge and helps them,” the verb forms do not agree, while “all the subject should be mandatory” has a singular-plural mismatch. Practise accurate article use, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for a clear grammatical structure.
