Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear opinion that science and technology are more important for modern needs, and you include relevant points about practical devices and learning about past cultures and leaders. However, the discussion is uneven and only partly developed: the science paragraph mainly lists gadgets, while the history paragraph ends by reducing its value to knowing what happened, without considering how history can help people understand society or avoid past mistakes. The task asks you to discuss both views, so develop the case for history as fully as the case for science and technology, then explain more precisely why your preferred subjects matter more. A specific example and a clearer comparison would make your response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its basic organisation. The progression within paragraphs is less controlled: the science paragraph moves from a general claim to an unclear explanation and then a list of gadgets, while the history paragraph presents several points without showing how they connect to the final comparison. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” help signal contrast, but transitions are sometimes mechanical, and references such as “these” and “they” are unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, explain it, and connect the example directly to that idea. This would create a clearer line of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “daily life,” “smart gadgets,” “appliances,” “leaders,” and “cultures,” which helps communicate the subject matter. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making meaning difficult to follow. For example, “provide as a knowledge,” “take place with our major needs,” and “what, where, when were done” are not natural expressions in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “scence” and “useed,” and repeated wording such as “these these.” Build a more precise range for explaining benefits and historical significance, and check spelling and collocations. The suggestions below offer practical alternatives drawn from your response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the response includes a clear opinion statement and some contrast between the two subjects. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries can make ideas difficult to understand. For instance, “History have their own value” should use a singular verb, while “They provides knowledge” has a pronoun–verb mismatch. The sentence beginning “One major benefit advantage” runs several ideas together without clear grammatical structure, and “I'm totally agree” uses an incorrect verb pattern. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement and verb forms during proofreading.
