Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, the importance of school subjects is becoming an crucial part of discussion. Some people think that chosing history as a subject in school is a clever idea. Whereas others consider the subjects of technology and science should be more promiment for getting knowlegde in the present period of life. I think that both views are corrent at a certain point.

On the one hand, people think that history can play a important role to know that what had happened in many centuries of years ago or what people have been doing in their time period, how they tackle different things and what they have to eat to acquire good amount of nutrients.

On the other hand, Some people consider that in this fast moving life, we should have the knowledge of science and technology more than history, Because history is all about that what had happened in our past years but science and technology give us the opportunity to figure out more exciting things about our life that how can we improve our nutrients and foods that help to keep our health maintain in the long run.

In my opinion, to be acknowlegde with science and technology is fundamentaly a great thing but we should never sideline the subject of history. Because we can dodge many problems and failures in our up coming lives, if we look in the history subjects, we can easily find out that how many mistakes people have done before and what are the steps that we should never take.

In conclusion. Every subjects have its own value in our daily life. Whether it is a history, science or technology. the chances of failure will be higher if ignore any of these subjects.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and state your view: “both views are corrent at a certain point,” followed by an argument for retaining History alongside science and technology. The point that studying past mistakes can help people avoid future failures is relevant and gives your opinion some support. However, the two sides are not developed evenly or in enough detail. The History paragraph mainly lists what people did in the past, while the science-and-technology paragraph focuses narrowly on food and health; neither explains broader educational or societal benefits. Your position also remains somewhat general. To strengthen the response, explain one distinct benefit of each subject area and support each with a specific example, then make your own preference more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the discussion, and the central topic remains consistent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in structuring the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is less secure: several ideas are joined into long sequences, and the repeated focus on nutrients and food does not clearly build the comparison. The conclusion also repeats the general claim that every subject has value rather than drawing together the reasons. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make references such as “these subjects” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to education and the topic, including “school subjects,” “fast moving life,” “opportunity,” and “failures.” These choices make the general meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, including “chosing,” “prominent” misspelled as “prominent” in the intended phrase, “knowlegde,” “corrent,” and “acknowlegde.” Phrases such as “a clever idea” and “fundamentaly a great thing” are also vague or unnatural for an academic discussion. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, describe History as helping students understand “past societies and decisions,” rather than relying on broad phrases about what people did.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, using contrast clauses and conditional structures, as in “if we look in the history subjects, we can easily find out…” This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, with frequent errors that sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Examples include “an crucial part,” “a important role,” “know that what had happened,” and “the chances of failure will be higher if ignore any of these subjects.” There are also problems with capitalisation and sentence boundaries, such as beginning “Some” and “Because” mid-sentence and writing “In conclusion.” as a fragment. Practise accurate articles, clause structure, and complete sentences before adding more complexity.
