Student answer (Band 5.0)
The statement illustrates the importance of history in school subjects whereas some people argue that in today's world subjects like science and technology are more crucial than history.
To begin with, in many institutes subjects relevant to past material topics are very important than other subjects because it has good impact on students as when they read books like history their knowledge became strong. However it depends on pupils interest in subjects if they like or not. Moreover some people say that now a days history is also very important in school subjects.
On the other hand, other people think that in modern world subjects alternate to science and technology are more crucial than old subjects like history. Now a days students are not interested in old history subjects because it is too boring to be learnt .Moreover its scope in today's society is becoming zero.As many students are taking part in modern subjects.
Therefore, in my opinion subject plays an important role in students life so they should be select the right one. These days life become more challenging without new technology and science.Hence there was no benefits of learning history because it was related to old things.Pupils must be learn in today's subjects like science and technology not in history like.
In conclusion, future is becoming more challenging without the latest technology. Therefore students who learnt new subjects can only face this difficulty in future. The students who are learning history like subjects can not be able to survive in the coming days.Students must be ble to

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and state a clear preference for science and technology, especially in the final two paragraphs. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the point that history strengthens students’ knowledge is not explained with a specific example, while the claim that its scope is “becoming zero” is unsupported and too absolute. The conclusion also repeats the preference rather than weighing the value of both subjects. The response is 245 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each side with a reason and a relevant example, then give a more balanced, clearly supported opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and ideas are repeated rather than developed—for example, the claim that modern subjects are more important appears in both the opinion paragraph and conclusion. Some links are mechanical or confusing, such as “Moreover” introducing points that do not clearly follow. The final sentence is unfinished (“Students must be ble to”), which disrupts the ending. Use clearer links between reasons and examples, and ensure every paragraph and sentence is complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “science and technology,” “challenging,” and “students’ interest,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “old subjects,” “modern subjects,” and “its scope … is becoming zero.” There are also awkward collocations and word forms, including “past material topics” and “subjects alternate to science and technology,” which make some ideas difficult to interpret. Aim for more precise academic wording and avoid absolute claims unless you can support them. The suggestions below offer alternatives that better express your intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional idea (“if they like or not”) and a reason introduced by “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “their knowledge became strong,” “subject plays an important role,” and “they should be select the right one.” The final sentence is incomplete, and missing spaces after full stops make punctuation less controlled. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check verb forms and agreement before adding extra clauses. Shorter, complete sentences would help communicate your ideas more reliably.
