Student answer (Band 5.5)
Current debate about the subjects like Science and technology which might be essentials at school compares to History considered less important. Some people agree History is not relevant because they are learning about the past something you cant change on the other hand learning subjects like Sciencie or Technology could be a great impact in their life specially in their future.
Many people support the idea that study and learning about our History is a must having knowledge about what happened hundreds of years ago could give a perfect example in how much aspects we have changed and understand why everything works the way that it works now.
However, subjects like Science or technology have many supporters who step forward defending that learning this subjects could be an enormous help for kids specially in the future. Controlling new skills might be a game changing in their adult life, opening different oportunities where they can succes.
From my perspective, I agree with people who believe that learning new skills and having knowlegment of different areas could be considered a plus in the future specially if you want to have success in what you are doing. Learning about Sciencie, doing experiment, building bridges or knowing about my own body was a significant impact in my life, helping me to understand different kind of things about me and the world. On the other hand, I understand the other part, which i considered necessary and even beautiful the fact that we can know what exactly happened in the past.
The discussion about the school subjects like History which one part of the community believe is not worth it even when is a good way to understand where we come from and why we work as a sociaty nowadays versus many people who support the idea of learning more about Science and technology is more relevant than study the past.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both perspectives and make your own preference clear: you support the value of science and technology while acknowledging that history helps explain how society developed. The personal examples—experiments, bridges and learning about the body—make your view relevant. This fits the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally. The history paragraph mainly says that studying the past helps explain the present, without giving a specific illustration or explaining this benefit in depth. Your conclusion also repeats the debate rather than clearly restating your position. To strengthen the response, explain one concrete benefit of each subject area and end with a direct summary of why you consider one more important.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a concluding paragraph. Transitions such as “However” and “From my perspective” help signal changes in focus. However, progression is not consistently clear. The final paragraph largely restates the introduction and does not bring the discussion to a decisive close, while the opinion paragraph shifts between your preference and appreciation of history without clearly connecting these points. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated contrast between the two subjects. Give each paragraph one clear purpose, use references such as “this subject” precisely, and make the conclusion synthesise the arguments rather than repeat them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “supporters,” “opportunities,” “adult life,” and “understand where we come from.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and phrases such as “game changing” show an attempt to use more expressive language. However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate or unnatural, as in “a great impact in their life,” “having knowlegment,” and “where they can succes.” There is also repetition of “learning,” “subjects,” and “important,” which limits flexibility. Aim for accurate academic collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the effect as “a significant impact on their lives” and use “knowledge” rather than “knowlegment.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive structure beginning “On the other hand” and a relative clause in “the fact that we can know what exactly happened in the past.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas harder to follow. For example, “Some people agree History is not relevant because they are learning about the past something you cant change” needs clearer clause boundaries and punctuation. Other issues include “learning this subjects,” “which i considered necessary,” and missing or inconsistent capitalisation. Practise building complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, punctuation and sentence boundaries during revision.
