Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people tend to have an ambivalent opinion about whether history or the technological sciences is the most useful school subject and if one is more important than the other. This essay will argue that indeed sciences are more important than history however, it still deserves to be taught to students.
To my mind, knowing the highlight historical events of your country reflect to a citizen duty. Every people who mark their country by their courage, creativity, or intelligence, contribute to the unique personality of their country who are, in a sense, trapped by time. Since our ancestors are not longer alive, they tell us what the main events were of our country through monuments, literature, art, which are methods lasting longer than the human life. The teaching of history gather the most important parts of our history and will very likely provied a source of inspiration. For instance, Jean Moulin, a French resistant soldier in World War II is known all over France by his courage and is a source of inspiration for the country.
Even if history is important to be teached, sciences and technology might be one of the most important school subject because of how much technology is taking place in our daily lives. Because this field is making our world so much more sophisticated and easier to live, a lot of students tend to study it more in detail also because of the numerous job opportunity you can have in the sector. The popularity has continued to rise over the years because how it is so useful to our current society. Where history tell us about happend in the past, science and technology are the source of our futur. The impact of science is much more signifcant than the history for our current society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both perspectives and state a clear overall view: science and technology are more important today, while history still deserves a place in education. The history paragraph gives a relevant reason—shared identity and inspiration—and the Jean Moulin example makes this more concrete. The science paragraph also explains its practical relevance through daily life and employment. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for history is developed more fully, while the claims that technology makes life easier and is “the source of our futur” are asserted rather than supported with a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how a scientific subject benefits students or society, and qualify the comparison rather than concluding only that science has a greater impact.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding comparison within the final paragraph. Transitions such as “To my mind” and “Even if” help signal the direction of the argument, and the contrast between learning about the past and preparing for the future is relevant. Some connections, however, are awkward or unclear. For example, “Every people who mark their country…” is difficult to follow, and the sequence about ancestors, monuments and the teaching of history does not always make the relationship between ideas explicit. The final paragraph also ends abruptly without a separate conclusion that restates the position. Use clearer topic sentences and link each supporting example directly to the paragraph’s main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “historical events,” “source of inspiration,” “sophisticated,” and “job opportunity.” These choices allow you to discuss identity, education and practical benefits, and some less common language is attempted. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or imprecise, as in “ambivalent opinion,” “the technological sciences,” “mark their country,” and “taking place in our daily lives.” There are also spelling or word-form errors, including “provied,” “happend,” “futur,” and “signifcant.” Such slips do not prevent the reader from understanding the main argument, but they reduce precision. Aim for natural academic collocations and proofread spelling; for example, use “shape national identity” rather than “mark their country.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession beginning “Even if” and a contrast introduced by “Where.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “historical events … reflect to a citizen duty” has an unclear subject–verb relationship and an incorrect pattern, while “The teaching of history gather” needs subject–verb agreement. In “history is important to be teached,” the passive construction is not formed correctly. The sentence beginning “Every people who…” also has several agreement and clause-structure problems. Work on checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and practise accurate passive forms and relative clauses. More reliable control of these patterns would make your complex sentences clearer.
