Student answer (Band 5.5)
Sopme people argued that history is one of the important subject in schools, while others believe science and technology are more significate than history. From my perspective, both fileds are equally important for the children to gain knowledge and experience. History teaches us about our ancestors and social development, whereas science offers knowledge about human evolution.
To begin with, history taught in schools is important for the children to understand about one's country and culture. History provides information about leaders of the country and how it is evolved. For example, India got indepence in 1947, through history lessons, we got to know about the leaders fought beside Mahatma Gandhi which led India become an independent country. Moreover, food and music are the part of a culture which we celebrate today. Consequnetly, knowledge acquired from history is useful to make a society better place.
Science and technology are equally important part of the education. It provides information about the human body and other life on the planet. For instance, evolution of humans from monkeys is discovered through science. Similary, subjects like physics teach children about the universe and space.Information and knowledge acquired though science are being used in modern technology to make human lives better. Childern will learn and apply those skills in reaseach and development that enables them to discover new things that will eventually help humans to evolve more.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and state a clear position in the introduction: history and science are “equally important.” The examples about India’s independence and scientific discoveries are relevant, and you explain some benefits of each subject. However, the discussion is brief and several points are not fully developed; for example, the claim that history helps make society better is not explained, and the science paragraph does not clearly compare its benefits with those of history. The response also contains 230 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250. Develop each main idea with a fuller explanation or a specific consequence, and add a conclusion that restates your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction followed by one paragraph on history and one on science. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “For instance” help signal the relationship between ideas. However, the essay ends without a concluding paragraph, so the overall progression feels incomplete and your opinion is not reinforced at the end. Some connections are also unclear: the sentence about food and music follows the example of independence without explaining how it supports the point about history lessons. Use clearer links between examples and claims, and finish with a concise conclusion. Check punctuation around sentence boundaries, particularly “space.Information,” to make the flow easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “social development,” “culture,” “evolution,” “universe,” and “research and development.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to be precise. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “significate,” “indepence,” “Consequnetly,” and “Childern.” There are also awkward or inaccurate combinations such as “one of the important subject” and “the leaders fought beside.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Proofread carefully and learn common collocations for discussing education, historical events, and scientific progress.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “History teaches us … whereas science offers …” and the relative clause “skills … that enables them.” These structures help you express comparisons and consequences. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “one of the important subject” needs a plural noun, “how it is evolved” has an incorrect verb form, and “that enables” does not agree with the plural noun “skills.” The sentence beginning “For example, India got independence…” also needs clearer punctuation and structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
