Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have different opinions about the subjects that are taught at school. Some of them argue that History is one of the most important school subjects. On the other hand, the opposers argue that in this most advanced world subjects like Science and technology are more significant than History. While both perspectives have their own merits, I believe that in today's rapidly evolving world we can't progress by neglecting the importance of science and technology. This essay will discuss both views before explaining my position.
On the one hand, some people argue that, History is most crucial subject taught because it enables our children and youth to come to know the sacrifices given by our ancesters to get the country. Moreover, it also enables to acquire knowledge about famous historical personalities of that country. For instance it highlights the life perspectives of the famous politicians, beurocates, army persons and other important figures. That's why the supporters of history subject believe and claim that if we give less importance to this subject aur next generations will forget aur national heroes.
On the other hand, some people believe that without paying much importance to science and technology our youth cannot be able to make their position in the race of well developed countries. For this purpose students are engaged in interesting activities from initial classes so that they will be able to develop their interest in this newly emerging field. For example, students are given projects and assignments related to technologies, that motivates them to do new innovations.
According to my view, students should pay more attetion in learning of science subjects because coming time is going to be the time of technology, and one can't progress by by neglecting it.
In conclusion, i would say that every subject is important but we can not ignore the significance of science .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for science and technology, especially in the introduction and final opinion paragraph. The points about learning from national figures and developing skills for future innovation are relevant, and the examples of school projects help illustrate the second view. However, the arguments are only briefly explained: the history paragraph lists groups of notable people but does not show in detail how studying them benefits students, while the science paragraph makes broad claims about competing with developed countries. The conclusion also adds little beyond repeating your position. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each subject’s value and support claims with a more specific example. The response meets the stated length requirement; 17 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the overall direction easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some links feel mechanical rather than showing how one idea leads to the next. For example, the history paragraph moves from sacrifices to famous personalities and then to national heroes without developing the connections between these points. The opinion paragraph and conclusion also repeat the same central claim. Use clearer topic sentences and develop each paragraph around one main reason, with explanation and an example, rather than relying mainly on transition phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “historical personalities,” “innovations,” and “rapidly evolving world,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “sacrifices given,” “make their position in the race,” and “newly emerging field.” Spelling errors, including “ancesters,” “beurocates,” and “attetion,” are also noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim to learn common academic collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help you express the benefits of history and science without relying on repeated general terms such as “important” and “significant.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a concession structure beginning “While both perspectives…” and a purpose clause with “so that.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “History is most crucial subject,” “it also enables to acquire knowledge,” and “we can not ignore,” where articles or sentence structure need attention. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent: there are missing spaces after full stops, and the final paragraph begins “i” rather than “I.” The repeated phrase “by by” is another editing error. Practise accurate article use and complete clause structures, then proofread for punctuation and repeated words.
